We are in a critical growth phase, and marketing leadership will play a defining role in shaping the trajectory of this organization.Position OverviewThe Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for building and executing an integrated marketing and communications strategy that drives measurable revenue growth, strengthens brand equity, and deepens community connection.Reporting to the President, this role oversees brand strategy, paid and earned media, grassroots activation, fan engagement, and communications efforts.This position operates within a lean team and disciplined budget environment. The successful candidate must be comfortable setting strategy while also executing tactically, prioritizing effectively, and maximizing impact through thoughtful resource allocation, while leveraging data analytics to measure ROI.We are seeking a strategic builder - someone who combines creative brand thinking with operational rigor, fiscal discipline, and strong cross-department collaboration.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Marketing & Revenue ImpactDevelop and execute a 12-month integrated marketing and communications plan aligned with ticket revenue and organizational KPIsDesign and lead revenue-generating campaigns, including single-match tickets, season tickets, group sales, theme nights, and promotionsBuild evergreen and lead-generation programs to grow the fan baseEstablish clear performance benchmarks and regularly report results to leadershipIntegrate both evergreen and themed merchandise into broader marketing and revenue-generating campaigns.Success is measured by revenue growth, fan acquisition, brand awareness, and organizational impact.Budget Ownership & Fiscal DisciplineDevelop, manage, and adhere to the departmental budgetForecast spend accurately and allocate resources strategicallyEvaluate ROI across paid, earned, and organic media, events, grassroots initiatives, and promotional effortsProactively adjust campaigns to optimize performance within approved budget parametersFinancial discipline and responsible stewardship of resources are essential.Project Management & ExecutionBuild clear campaign briefs, timelines, and workflowsDeliver marketing initiatives on time and within budgetCreate internal systems that support scale and operational efficiencyMaintain strong organization in a fast-paced sports environmentLeverage data analytics tools to measure reach, engagement, and revenue conversion ratesCross-Department CollaborationPartner closely with Ticket Sales, Corporate Partnerships, Operations, and the Tampa Bay Sun FoundationAlign marketing initiatives with sales and sponsorship prioritiesParticipate as a collaborative and solutions-oriented member of the leadership teamSupport theme nights, promotional events, and game-day activationsCollaboration and communication across departments are critical to success in this role.Brand & Communications LeadershipOversee brand positioning and ensure consistency across all touchpointsManage local media relations and press communicationsDevelop and execute paid media strategies (TV, OOH, radio, print, digital) aligned with revenue goalsLead grassroots and community-based marketing initiativesOversee promotional items, giveaways, and fan engagement programsTeam Leadership & DelegationLead and develop marketing staff and external partnersDelegate effectively while maintaining strategic oversightFoster accountability, professionalism, and performance standards within the departmentThis role requires someone who can elevate others while maintaining clear direction.QualificationsExperience5-8 years of progressive marketing experience with increasing leadership responsibilityDemonstrated success leading revenue-generating marketing initiativesExperience leveraging data analytics tools to measure marketing outcomesExperience managing defined marketing budgets with measurable ROIExperience operating in lean, high-growth, or startup environments strongly preferredPrior experience in sports, live events, or consumer brands is a plusWe are less concerned with years of experience and more concerned with demonstrated capability, discipline, and results.Core CompetenciesStrategic thinking with hands-on execution capabilityStrong financial discipline and comfort operating within constrained budgetsExcellent project management and organizational skillsAbility to collaborate cross-functionally and build trustData-driven decision-making mindsetStrong written and verbal communication skillsAdaptability in a fast-paced, evolving sports environmentWork EnvironmentFull-time, on-site position in Tampa BayRequires nights, weekends, and event-based schedule flexibilityThis is not a remote roleTampa Bay Sun FC is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.Job Questions:What are base salary expectations (range is acceptable)?Why would you want to apply for this multi-faceted position?If you were hired - what are some key points (ideas) you would focus on from what you can see from the outside?
