What You'll Do Join the Audubon Zoo and Aquarium team as a Guest Services Associate - Mascot Performer! In this role, you'll bring our brand to life through engaging, family-friendly mascot performances while providing support across Guest Services, including birthday parties, ticketing, admissions, Virtual Reality Gaming, the Butterfly Garden, Cool Zoo, and after-hours events. You'll help create memorable guest experiences, promote sales and memberships, assist with crowd management, and ensure safety for both guests and wildlife. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Suggest and promote General Sales, Memberships, Wild Encounters, and Audubon attractions during every transaction. Monitor all admissions while scanning tickets. Greet guests, manage crowds, and promptly assist with questions or concerns. Maintain a friendly, neat, and professional appearance in line with the Audubon image. Follow all departmental and Audubon Nature Institute policies. Maintain professional relationships with employees, vendors, and third-party partners. Guest Assist guests with strollers or wheelchairs per policy; comply with service animal policy. Set up stanchions/signage, answer questions, upsell tickets, and break lines as needed. Professionally process cash and credit transactions. Assist before and during Audubon After Hours events and third-party events. Perform as the official Zoo and Aquarium Mascot during daily operations, special events and community outreach programs. Possess for Photographs with guests, encouraging positive interactions and creating Additional/Overall Skills Maintain a positive attitude, accountability, and a collaborative team environment. Use organizational and technical skills to support smooth operations. Celebrate team successes and reflect Audubon's joyful culture. Stay adaptable and open to learning new skills; embrace change and innovation. Ability to work under and manage stress appropriately. Duties listed are major responsibilities performed regularly but do not exclude other duties as assigned. Must-Haves High School Diploma or equivalent. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a guest-first mindset. Proficiency in computer literacy. Ability to maintain character integrity during guest interactions. Commitment to the mission of the Zoo and Aquarium, celebrating nature and providing exceptional guest experiences. Nice-to-Haves Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Some college education preferred. Previous customer service experience in hospitality, tourism, or retail. Prior experience in performance, theater, dance, cheerleading, or mascot/character work. Physical Requirements Prolonged standing, walking, and climbing stairs or ladders. Ability to perform animated physical movement for extended periods. Frequent bending, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in costume, in heat, humidity, and other weather conditions. Manual dexterity to operate machinery or handle tools. Frequent use of vision and hearing to assess surroundings and tasks. Exposure to varying weather conditions and potential hazards such as dust, chemicals, or loud noise. Ability to work under and manage stress appropriately. Ability to lift/ carry up to 50lbs.
