Classroom Assistant (6-8)

A Classroom Assistant is required to perform the following duties:Work collaboratively and harmoniously with Lead Classroom TeacherAccept and incorporate feedback and coaching from Lead Teacher and Administrative TeamSupport established classroom rules and protocolFill in as Teacher when Lead Teacher is absent when askedMotivate and support students in reaching high levels of academic successCreate a positive student culture around online learning and small group tutoringMaintain high behavioral expectations for all studentsInterpret, manage, and utilize multiple sets of data in order to best support student progressPerform targeted individual assistance and small group tutoringAssist with the creation of individual learning plans for each student enrolledMaintain frequent communication with students and their support network regarding academic progressCommunicate and collaborate with teachers and school administratorsParticipate in staff development opportunitiesParticipate in all required staff meetingsEnsure the security of computer equipment and accessoriesPerform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by Lead Classroom Teacher and PrincipalREPORTS TO/TERM:PrincipalFull Time 10-month positionRequirementsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Associate or higher with a minimum GPA of 3.0Desire to grow professionallyCommitment to the mission and organizational goals of GEO AcademiesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:3 years' experience working with children in an urban settingAt least 9 hours concentrated in Math, ELA or ReadingExperience or familiarity in one of the following areas:Blended LearningOnline learning / coursework
