Job Announcement 20260009 Assistant Coach- CARA Athletics (Cross Country/ Track) CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled APPLY ONLINE AT LONGMONTCOLORADO.GOV/JOBS Department: External Services Division: Community Enrichment Subdivision: Parks, Recreation & Open Space Hiring Range: $16.43- $17.99/hour Monday - Friday, various shifts Occasional evenings and weekends Part Time Temporary Benefits include: Benefits required by law are included such as Jury & Witness Duty, Sick Leave, Social Security, and Medicare. Definition: Oversee practices, activities, meets and games for a specialized program or sport. This position may work daytime, nights, weekends, and holidays. Principal Duties: • Provide positive leadership and mentorship to program participants. • Plan and implement a variety of workouts and activities appropriate for all levels of the program. • Instruct program participants in proper development of techniques, rules of the sport, good sportsmanship of the designated program or sport. • Execute EAP's as necessary. Handle basic first aid, CPR and other lifesaving skills and techniques certified and trained in. • Complete appropriate paperwork when necessary and submit to immediate supervisor. • Plan, prepare, and attend scheduled meetings, trainings and meets. • Maintain and record accurate attendance figures if required • Assist with preparation of seasonal plans and goals which can include recruiting. • Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City Attributes. Working Environment: Work is performed either indoors in a natatorium, a gymnasium, or outdoors, and involves exposure to hot and cold temperatures, high humidity, direct sun, rain, snow and/or moderate to loud background noise. Must be able to work in an environment with poor acoustics and an array of distractions, including music and weather conditions. Work requires frequent use of fingers and hands, walking and standing, hearing, speaking, problem solving, math, communication and customer contact, handling multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, custodial duties, slippery/uneven surfaces, working alone or working closely with others. Work also includes light/moderate lifting and carrying (1-49 lb.), bending stooping, kneeling, and possibly driving City vehicle. Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of the sport or activity. Must be at least 16 years of age. A minimum of one year of competitive experience preferably with High School or competitive age group team level. Coaching or previous teaching experience preferred. Valid Colorado Driver's License. Special Qualifications: Depending on the position: Current certification in American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety, CPR, American Red Cross Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, and Concussion Training.
