Collier Middle School is immediately seeking a Structured Learning SLE/ WBL Coordinator in our Wickatunk, NJ location. SUMMARYThe WBL Coordinator is responsible for developing and coordinating work-based learning partnerships to ensure enrolled students can participate in structured activities to learn and practice workplace skills throughout enrollment as well as provide an approved education program and establish a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth: to help students develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued education; and maintain good relationships with parents and other staff members.DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for all phases of the classroom program, including instruction, health and safety of children, good order, the development and maintenance of atmosphere conducive to learning, record keeping and student evaluation. As well as all required NJ state paperwork and compliance with NJ DOE and DOL required laws.Engage with the community to develop strong employer partner networks to serve as WBL hosts and maintain positive relations.Provide transportation and support services to assist students in meeting WBL assignments, monitor attendance, and coordinate regular evaluations by WBL site supervisors.Plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates innovative WBL strategies and opportunities with input and assistance from administrators, teachers, and studentsLocates, analyzes, and evaluates the suitability of potential WBL opportunities, including identifying any safety and liability insurance issuesReviews student applications, interviews students, and notifies students of acceptance to participate in the programMatches students to appropriate WBL experiencesCoordinates WBL orientation meetings/processes for students and WBL supervisorsReviews all appropriate forms with students, parents, and WBL supervisors.Develops and completes training agreements with students and WBL supervisorsEnsures students submit all required documentation prior to the start of the WBL programAdvises students on the appropriate workplace soft skills, behavior, and dressVerifies students are prepared for job interviews, capable of completing job applications, and have transportation if neededCoordinates regularly scheduled meetings/calls with students and WBL supervisors to render any needed technical assistance or immediately address any problems and/or concerns of the studentKeeps local administrators abreast of the WBL program's operations and outcomesMonitors the WBL programs for compliance with state and federal regulations and informs students and WBL supervisors of these regulations regarding training, child labor, safety, liability insurance, and so on.Completes evaluation forms with the WBL supervisor each grading period and conducts a follow-up session with each studentVerifies eligible students receive the appropriate unit(s) of creditMaintains all required forms and documentation and submits all required WBL reports to MDEServes as WBL supervisor and/or mentor for nontraditional WBL experiences, such as entrepreneurship, school-based enterprises, simulated workplace, community service projects, project-based learning, supervised agricultural experience, or summer WBL placementsSKILLS/ ABILITIESHigh degree of initiative and independent thinking and ability to assess situations as they arise and make sound judgements to address the proper course of action to be taken, based on training received to perform the duties of the positionSincere desire to work with children and promote personal growthCommunicate effectively with students with disabilities and other staffMust be computer literate and able to use necessary software/ technology that helps to communicate with students.Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sensitivity to diversity and individual needsBe a team player and project sensitivity, compassion and respect to all individualsMust demonstrate a high level of cultural competence, according to our philosophy, mission and valuesExcellent interpersonal skills, work ethic and the ability to stay calm under pressureMust be able to maintain professional boundaries, code of ethics and follow all policies and proceduresEDUCATION/ EXPERIENCEA Bachelor's Degree based upon a four-year curriculum in an approved college or university along with a valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate- Cooperative Education Coordinator, #3465 or Cooperative Education Coordinator/Hazardous Occupations, #3464 or documentation of the required courses for WBL Supervision.Proper certification required: must be certified in the subject area hired to teachDemonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activitiesSatisfactorily pass Criminal History, Fingerprints, TB Screening, physical, and Sexual Misconduct and Child Abuse DisclosureValid Drivers' LicenseWORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe school employees are required to be able to:Drive a carStand, walk, sit, and properly be able to use their upper and lower extremitiesKeep workspace, equipment, and utilities clean and tidyWork outside with exposure to weather conditions, on occasionsSalary Range: $50,000-$60,000To learn more about us, please visit our website at High School is a fully accredited non-profit, private school that serves students with disabilities.
