The opportunityThe NA Staff Accountant is a key member of our growing North America (NA) accounting team. You will form the foundation of our monthly accounting close and have a seat at the table as we scale our systems and processes. Reporting to the US, Accounting Manager, you are a self-starter with strong attention to detail, possess a process improvement mindset and are comfortable with ambiguity. We have an enjoyable, dynamic and collaborative work environment.What you'll doLead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring all journal entries and reconciliations are completed timelyApply ASC 606 standards to our revenue streams, managing deferred revenue and complex contract termsPrepare monthly financial statements for management reviewAssist with the transition of our accounting function from an outsourcing to an in-sourcing modelAssist with the implementation & testing of new accounting systems & with the development of a SOX frameworkOwn Accounts Receivable (A/R) and assist with payroll as neededAssist in managing equity-based compensation accounting and cap table maintenance via platforms like CartaMonitor state nexus and ensure compliance with sales tax and franchise tax filingsPrepare schedules and provide support for external auditsPerform ad-hoc financial analysis and participate in special projects as neededWhat we are looking forGrowth-minded: Experienced in their speciality field but hungry for continuous learning and improvementIndustry-seasoned: has already spent time supporting the electric power / cleantech industriesSelf-starter: willing to dig into new concepts, make recommendations with limited information, and be highly effective with minimal direction and supervisionSystems thinker: a love for efficiency, ensuring that processes work well together to streamline commercial operationsFocused: we are a small team with many competing priorities.
