GHJ's relationship with our Global Advisory and Accounting Network provides the resources needed to better understand client's needs, attract a higher caliber of candidates and assess candidate potential.Position OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on and strategic Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of our manufacturing facility in Sylmar, CA. This fully onsite role will oversee all accounting functions, manage cost accounting and inventory processes, ensure accurate monthly financial reporting, and partner with operations leadership to drive financial performance.The ideal candidate has strong manufacturing experience, expertise in cost accounting, and a proactive leadership approach.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & CloseOversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processesPrepare and review timely, accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAPLead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysisPresent financial results and KPIs to executive leadershipDevelop and maintain internal controlsCost Accounting & Inventory ManagementOversee standard costing, job costing, and variance analysisAnalyze material, labor, and overhead variancesManage inventory accounting, cycle counts, and physical inventory processesEnsure accurate valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goodsPartner with operations to improve margins and production efficienciesManufacturing Operations SupportWork closely with plant leadership to analyze production metrics and cost driversDevelop KPIs related to labor efficiency, scrap, throughput, and inventory turnoverIdentify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvementCash Flow, Banking & ComplianceManage cash flow forecasting and treasury functionsMaintain banking relationships and oversee credit facilitiesEnsure compliance with sales tax, payroll tax, and regulatory requirementsCoordinate annual audits and tax filingsTeam LeadershipSupervise and mentor accounting staffEstablish and improve accounting policies and proceduresDrive ERP system optimization and process automation initiativesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with leadership in a manufacturing environmentStrong cost accounting and inventory management expertiseKnowledge of GAAP and financial reportingExperience with ERP systems (manufacturing modules preferred)CPA preferredAdvanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities$150,000 - $175,000 a year#GHJSS #LI-JE1We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
