Job Description

A California-based established law firm is seeking a Litigation Paralegal who will support the firm's Trial and Litigation Group, which maintains a robust practice focused on complex litigation matters, including constitutional law, civil rights, land use disputes, eminent domain, class actions, crisis litigation, and related proceedings.The Litigation Group is actively engaged in all phases of litigation-from initial pleadings through discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeal-in both state and federal courts. This role is primarily on-site with a limited remote component.Litigation Paralegals work closely with attorneys and litigation teams to proactively manage cases from inception through resolution. Responsibilities include drafting and revising legal documents, managing discovery and document productions, supporting depositions and hearings, and assisting with trial preparation.This position requires the ability to meet an annual billable hour requirement, work extended hours as needed, travel for case support when required, provide excellent internal and external client service, and maintain a reliable and punctual work schedule.RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage case files and oversee litigation matters from inception through trial, settlement, or appealDraft, review, and revise pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documentsMaintain discovery logs, indices, and production trackingSupport and manage document productions, including eDiscovery workflowsAssist with deposition, hearing, and trial preparation, including exhibit management and witness preparation materialsCite-check briefs and filings, including legal and factual citationsConduct document review and coordinate with litigation support teams for database management using iPro or similar platformsPerform legal research using Westlaw and/or LexisEnsure compliance with applicable court rules, procedures, and deadlinesMaintain strict confidentiality and uphold high ethical standardsCollaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staffQUALIFICATIONSAbility to work and bill as a paralegal under California Business & Professions Code §6450Bachelor's degreeMinimum of five (5) years of recent litigation paralegal experience with a California law firm or in-house legal departmentAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office / Office 365, with strong Excel skills (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, data analysis)Demonstrated experience managing document storage, retrieval, production, and eDiscovery processesProficiency with eDiscovery platforms and Adobe Acrobat ProStrong legal research skills using Westlaw (preferred) and/or LexisThorough knowledge of litigation procedures, rules of court, and local rulesAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong teamwork and collaboration skillsExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsDemonstrated discretion and commitment to confidentialityADDITIONAL INFORMATIONThis is a full-time, nonexempt positionExtended hours may be required to meet litigation deadlinesTravel may be required for hearings, depositions, or trial supportAnnual billable hour requirement applies
