We believe in hiring based on character first—and we’ll teach you the rest.     THE ROLE: We’re seeking a Veterinary Assistant with a strong work ethic, a compassionate nature, and a readiness to learn. You’ll support our veterinarians and medical team across all areas of patient care, from routine exams to surgical prep. While experience is appreciated, we’re ready to train the right person who brings integrity, curiosity, and kindness to the table.   Key Responsibilities Assist in the care and handling of patients during exams, procedures, and hospitalization Maintain clean, well-stocked, and organized treatment and exam areas Prep and support for surgery, dental cleanings, and diagnostics Monitor patients and report concerns or changes in behavior to the veterinary team Administer medications and treatments as directed Communicate effectively and empathetically with clients and team members Maintain accurate medical records and assist with client education   Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required, associate degreee and above preferred Prior veterinary or animal care experience Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods Familiarity with basic computer systems; Avimark experience a plus   What We’re Looking For A proactive, team-first attitude Confidence around animals and a desire to keep them calm and comfortable Reliability and excellent attention to detail Strong communication and time management skills A willingness to learn and be trained in our systems and protocols   Why Join Abbey?
