Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 HourlyLocation : Tacoma, WAJob Type: Intern/ No BenefitsJob Number: 728BDepartment: Facilities MaintenanceOpening Date: 03/04/2026Closing Date: 4/30/2026 11:59 PM PacificFLSA: Non-ExemptBargaining Unit: POT NONAnticipated Starting Salary: Undergraduate students: $20.00/hour Graduate students: $25.00/hour Job Summary The Facilities Maintenance Intern will work alongside experienced facilities maintenance staff and gain hands-on exposure to multiple skilled trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and building and grounds. This internship is designed to provide practical, real-world experience in a public-sector facilities environment while supporting ongoing maintenance operations. The intern will rotate through each trade area and perform assigned tasks under the direct supervision of experienced journey-level staff. This internship is expected to start on or around June 1st for up to 3 months. Hours will be Monday-Friday, 6:30 am to 3 pm core hours. Expected to work up to 24 hours a week. Essential Functions Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited school, college or university. Coursework and interest maintenance or skilled trades is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates enrolled in a general maintenance or multi-trade program.Interest in facilities maintenance and skilled trades such as carpentry, electrical, or plumbingWillingness to learn and work safely in an active maintenance environmentAbility to take direction from experienced staff and work collaboratively as part of a teamBasic mechanical or construction aptitudeDependability, strong work ethic, and attention to detailPrior hands-on, shop, or construction experience is helpful but not required Required Education and Experience All individuals offered an internship must provide acceptable proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States. Proof will be required prior to starting.Intern must be able to successfully complete a background investigation which may include driving record review.
