We are seeking a strategic and hands-on ELA Director (K-5) to lead English Language Arts instruction across the network.This role is ideal for a content expert who understands the science of reading, standards alignment, and high-quality literacy instruction. The ELA Director will lead unit unpackings, coach teachers, and use data to drive strategic improvements in reading, writing, and language development.If you are passionate about literacy, skilled in developing adults, and committed to closing achievement gaps, we invite you to apply.What You'll DoYou'll lead with clarity and purpose to ensure rigorous, aligned literacy instruction across K-5 campuses.As ELA Director, you will:Serve as the Network Content ExpertLead the vision and strategy for K-5 ELA instructionUnpack standards to ensure clarity and alignment across grade levelsEnsure vertical coherence in reading, writing, and language instructionStrengthen Instructional PracticeLead unit unpackings and curriculum planning sessionsModel lessons and step into classrooms to coach or teach as neededProvide actionable feedback to increase rigor, text complexity, and student discourseLeverage Data to Drive ResultsAnalyze literacy data to identify bright spots, trends, and gapsDevelop and support strategic action plans to improve reading and writing outcomesMonitor progress and adjust supports to accelerate scholar growthBuild Strong RelationshipsBuild trust with teachers, instructional leaders, and campus teamsCollaborate across schools to share best practices and instructional resourcesDevelop partnerships within and beyond the network to strengthen literacy outcomesWho We're Looking ForWe're seeking a leader who combines deep literacy expertise with strong relational leadership.You'll thrive in this role if you:Have deep knowledge of K-5 ELA Common Core standards and literacy developmentCan clearly unpack standards and translate them into strong daily instructionAre confident coaching teachers and modeling effective literacy practicesUse data to drive strategic decisions and close gapsBuild collaborative, trusting relationshipsLead with urgency, clarity, and high expectationsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred)Minimum of three (3) years of successful K-5 teaching experience in ELADemonstrated success improving student literacy outcomes on state examsExperience coaching or leading adultsDeep knowledge of standards-based ELA instructionCommitment to Movement Schools' mission and valuesPreferred QualificationsExperience leading multi-campus or network-wide initiativesBackground in curriculum design or literacy leadershipExperience in charter or choice-based school settingsCompensation & ScheduleStarting Salary: $80,000Employment Type: Full-TimeBenefits: Comprehensive benefits package available for eligible employeesSchedule: Academic calendar with network-wide travel as neededMust live in the Charlotte or Atlanta Metro AreaOur CommitmentMovement Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming school community.
