Job Title: Controller Company: Confidential - Adventure / Travel / Outdoor Lifestyle Brand Location: Minneapolis, MN (Remote initially | Hybrid in the future) Work Authorization: US Citizen only Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Reports To: CEO Industry: Retail | Outdoor | Lifestyle | E-Commerce Job Summary A fast-growing, entrepreneurial company in the adventure and outdoor lifestyle space is seeking a hands-on, growth-oriented Controller to help build and mature its financial infrastructure. This individual will own the end-to-end accounting function, lead the monthly/quarterly/annual close, strengthen reporting processes, and ensure a strong liquidity structure. This role is ideal for an Assistant Controller ready for the next step or a Controller who enjoys building scalable processes in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment. You will work directly with the CEO and collaborate cross-functionally with operations, HR, logistics, supply chain, and vendor teams.Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Manage and own monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles Oversee general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements Manage cash flow planning and liquidity Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Strengthen financial controls and GAAP compliance Operational & Cross-Functional Support Partner with operations on logistics, supply chain, inventory, and vendor management Support HR functions: payroll, benefits, and compliance Evaluate and implement improvements to processes & workflows Systems & Tools Lead all accounting functions in QuickBooks Identify system improvements as the company scales Leadership Serve as strategic partner to the CEO Bring a builder's mindset to create structure and scalability Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field Proven experience as Controller or Assistant Controller Experience independently handling: Monthly close Quarterly close Annual close Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal financial controls Advanced QuickBooks experience (required) Experience with cash flow planning & liquidity management Experience working cross-functionally with: Operations Supply chain Inventory Vendors HR (payroll, benefits, compliance) Must reside in the Minneapolis, MN area Must be a US Citizen Nice to Have Private Equity experience Experience in a growth-stage or entrepreneurial environment Retail / Outdoor / Consumer industry background Why Join?
