Learn more at University in Charlotte, NC | Quick Facts About Wingate.This position is responsible for preparing accounting information to assist in the production of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the university. This position ensures that financial data is timely and accurate with a structured monthly close process and in conjunction with ongoing systems innovation and improvement.Duties/Responsibilities:Accounting & ReportingPrepare monthly reconciliation of University Balance Sheet accountsManage Fixed Asset processPrepare monthly Journal EntriesAssist with financial statements, annual financial reports, audit activities, and other reports and requestsManage Escheat process and maintain timely Escheat check reportingAssist with daily batch posting and processingRespond timely to all accounting related inquiriesOther duties as assigned by the ControllerProcess Improvement & TechnologyMaintain continued process improvement utilizing technologyMaintain expert level efficiency in Workday softwareAid in research of system issues and assist in testing and training on updates from software releasesChampion paperless and automated workflowsCompliance & Professional ConductRegular, predictable attendance on campusAlignment with University mission, vision, and strategic roadmapAssistance in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reportingCommunicate effectively in a professional, tactful and courteous manner with students, employees, faculty, and the general publicEnsure that all activities are conducted within the established University policies, FERPA guidelines, and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and educationPerform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe and efficient manner and with minimal supervisionRequired Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of department and university policies, procedures, and practices with the ability to answer work-related questions; and/or interpret and apply these guidelines correctly in various situationsStrong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Ability to manage multiple projects and work under time pressures to meet established deadlinesAbility to handle confidential material appropriatelyAbility to work effectively in a busy environment with frequent interruptionsExperience working in Microsoft and Google suite preferredERP experience required, experience with Workday software preferredExcellent customer service skillsStrong attention to detail to ensure accurate reportingEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business with concentration in Accounting requiredAccounting experience required, prefer 3 or more years of related experienceNote: Please be sure to upload any/all documents during the application process.
