Job Title: DAS Field Engineer Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated DAS (Distributed Antenna System) Field Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working in the field. You will be responsible for leading the commissioning, integration, and activation of various cellular systems. This position involves significant customer interaction and requires a hands-on approach with system components. The role will require travel to job sites across Maryland and neighboring regions. Responsibilities + Lead commissioning, integration, and activation of various cellular systems. + Perform system tests using tech phones, RF scanners, spectrum analyzers, and other electronic test equipment. + Serve as a customer-facing representative, conducting site surveys and in-depth walkthroughs. + Communicate effectively with customers and follow up on tasks. + Work hands-on with system components such as antennas, fiber optics, coax, and RF amplifiers. + Troubleshoot and repair systems for optimal performance, including isolating external noise interference, PIM interference, and conducting OTDR testing. + Apply RF principles and theory, including signal path, radio frequency power, frequency bands, system noise, and modulation types. + Manage multiple projects on a daily basis. + Participate in monthly meetings to review project profitability and business unit results. + Travel to various job sites within Maryland and outlying regions (DC, Northern Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware). Essential Skills + Significant RF experience. + Proficiency with test equipment, especially spectrum analyzers, understanding noise floor, resolution bandwidth, and sweep testing. + Strong DAS knowledge, including thermal noise floor and system calculations. + Experience with PIM Testing, Fiber Optics, and the TEKO system. + Proficient with spectrum analyzers, scanners, cellular test phones, OTDR, fiber fusion splicer, and similar tools. + 4+ years of related experience preferred, with previous experience in DAS architecture and other cellular systems. + Ability to gain access to various buildings by passing building-specific checks. + Knowledge of various wireless technologies (4G, 5G, etc.). + Strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn and advance within a technical field. + Comfortable working in high-pressure situations. + Knowledge of RF optimization techniques and best practices. + Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. + Candidates pursuing a master's degree or with a minor in business will receive preferential consideration. + OEM training on different DAS architectures (TEKO, SOLiD, Commscope). + Proactive in engaging in formulating policies for review by executive management. Work Environment The position is based in Lanham, Maryland, with coverage extending to DC, northern Virginia, and parts of Maryland, including airports and WMATA sites. The role involves replacing failed remotes, PIM testing, return loss testing, and some fiber testing in the field. You will be actively engaged in projects, especially in the first few months, to understand the work and identify efficiencies. The work environment is dynamic, requiring the individual to be in the field 75% of the time and in the office 25% of the time. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lanham, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $57.69/hr.
