Job Description

Business Development Manager - Environmental Services (Chicagoland) Position Overview In this role, you will be responsible for developing new business tied directly to our Chicago-area operations. Success in this role requires more than traditional sales ability - it requires a working understanding of industrial waste streams, environmental services, disposal processes, and compliance-driven decision making. While prior environmental services sales experience is highly valued, we are also open to candidates who have operated within environmental, industrial, manufacturing, or regulated waste environments and can already "speak the language" of customers in this space. This role is ideal for someone who understands how waste is generated, managed, transported, and disposed of, and who can translate that understanding into consultative, value-driven sales conversations. Compensation & Incentive Structure Total annual compensation potential: $150,000 - $175,000+ (Base salary plus aggressive quarterly performance incentives) Compensation is directly tied to revenue generation and account growth This role is designed for high performers who want meaningful upside tied to real results. Essential Functions * Develop and execute a territory sales plan focused on industrial, manufacturing, and environmental services customers within the Chicagoland market. * Identify, qualify, and pursue new accounts where waste management, environmental compliance, or disposal strategy is a meaningful operational concern. * Conduct consultative sales conversations that demonstrate an understanding of: * Waste streams and byproducts * Disposal methods and limitations * Environmental, operational, and compliance considerations * Prepare and present service proposals, pricing, and RFP responses that align operational realities with customer needs. * Partner closely with operations and field teams to ensure proposed services are practical, compliant, and executable. * Serve as a knowledgeable resource to customers, able to explain service approaches, constraints, and value with credibility. * Maintain accurate forecasts, pipeline visibility, and territory planning documentation. Environmental & Industry Knowledge (Critical) Successful candidates will bring experience or meaningful exposure to one or more of the following: * Environmental services, waste management, or industrial services * Manufacturing, industrial plant operations, or regulated facilities * Waste, disposal, recycling, or byproduct management programs * Environmental compliance, sustainability, or EHS-related roles * Oversight or management of waste streams, vendors, or disposal processes Candidates do not need prior grease trap or liquid waste sales experience, but must be able to quickly understand and credibly communicate environmental service concepts. Sales Skills & Capabilities * Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to diagnose operational problems and align solutions. * Experience selling services (not just products) into industrial or operational environments. * Ability to navigate short-, medium-, and long-cycle service sales. * Comfortable engaging decision-makers who prioritize risk, compliance, uptime, and cost control. * Proven ability to build trust through knowledge, not just persuasion. Knowledge, Skills & Attributes * Strong analytical, listening, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to translate technical or operational concepts into business value. * Professional written and verbal communication skills. * High level of personal accountability and follow-through. * Comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, compliance, and corporate support teams. * Self-motivated, disciplined, and effective at managing a defined geographic territory. Education & Experience * High school diploma or equivalent (Required) * Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, other physical sciences, Operations, Business, or related fields (Preferred) * Two (2)+ years of experience in B2B sales, environmental operations, industrial services, or regulated environments * Demonstrated ability to learn and operate within technically driven or compliance-sensitive industries Additional Information This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties. Employees may be required to perform other job-related tasks as requested. Liquid Environmental Solutions maintains an at-will employment relationship.
