Job Title: Piping Designer Job Description The purpose of this position is to provide essential technical knowledge and perform design work as described below. This position serves as an Area Lead Designer or staff designer performing assignments of advanced complexity. Under general supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Design Supervisor, you will serve as an Area Lead Designer providing guidance and supervision to designers. Responsibilities + Prepare and check designs of advanced complexity utilizing 3D modeling and 2D computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) automation tools. + Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients. + Execute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and procedures. + Execute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines. + Perform bulk material take-off analysis and tabulations. + Provide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting, including review of vendor submittals. + Provide technical support to activities associated with construction administration, including response to construction requests-for-information and field changes. + Other duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Proficiency in AutoCAD, Piping Design, and Smart Plant 3D (S3D) with a minimum of 3 years of experience. + Ability to read, interpret, and generate design drawings with minimal input. + Prepare 3D layouts and/or schematics for conceptual and detailed designs of advanced complexity. + Experience in engineering fields such as piping, electrical, mechanical, structural, communications, architectural, fire protection, or civil. + Proficiency in computer-aided design utilizing Bentley MicroStation with the ability to originate and produce drawings with minimal supervision. + Experience producing and checking complex piping drawings, including plot plans, piping plans, isometrics, and sketches. + Provide assistance to construction and pipe fabrication personnel. + Understanding of ASME NQA-1, EPC, US DOE, P&ID, and Nuclear Facility standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications + U.S. Citizenship required. + Associate degree in a related technical field of study with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of work-related experience. + Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes and standards. + Ability to communicate effectively with project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors. + Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards. + Ability to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes, and guidelines. + Attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner. + Intermediate computer and software skills, including proficiency in word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation programs. + Significant experience providing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services on large industrial projects. Work Environment This position is based in Greenville, SC or Houston, TX. You will be working in a dynamic environment that involves executing large engineering projects utilizing 3D modeling and 2D CAD automation tools in a multi-discipline setting. The work environment requires proficiency in various technologies and attention to detail, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
