Salary: $25.00 - $27.00 HourlyLocation : City Hall Building, OHJob Type: Permanent Part TimeJob Number: 202500021Department: Parks and RecreationOpening Date: 01/30/2026Closing Date: 3/31/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Position TitleRECREATION ASSISTANT - Events & ProgramsDEPARTMENT: PARKS & RECREATION PAY GRADE: 6SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Director, with direct supervision by the Assistant Recreation Supervisor and Recreation SupervisorSUPERVISION EXERCISED: This position may supervise clerical support staff, volunteers, and interns.POSITION CLASSIFICATIONS: The position of Recreation Assistant in the City of Stow is unclassified by the Stow Municipal Civil Service Commission, is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not included in a collective bargaining agreement.PURPOSE: Responsible for assisting with the development, planning, organization, and implementation of events and programs offered by the Parks & Recreation Department. This position plays a key role in assisting with delivering high-quality recreational opportunities that enhance community engagement, wellness, and quality of life. Essential FunctionsAssist in the planning, coordination, and execution of community events, special events, and programs.Support program setup and breakdown, including equipment, supplies, and facility preparation.Assist with on-site event operations, including participant check-in, crowd flow, and general event support.Serve as a staff presence during events and programs to ensure a safe, welcoming, and organized environment.Assist supervisors with researching, developing, and evaluating recreation and fitness program offerings.Help coordinate schedules, instructors, volunteers, and program logistics.Assist with program registrations, attendance tracking, and basic record keeping.Provide input and feedback on program improvements based on participant experience.Provide courteous and professional customer service to program participants, instructors, volunteers, and the general public.Answer basic questions related to programs, events, schedules, and facilities.Serve as a positive representative of the Parks & Recreation Department at all assigned activities.The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalent required. Degree in recreation or associated field preferred.Previous experience in recreation, events, fitness programs, customer service, or related field preferred.Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work effectively with diverse age groups, including youth, adults, and seniors.PREFERRED:Previous work experience in municipal or county government is preferred but not required.
