Our Human Resources Team at the Greenville County School District is dedicated to advancing student achievement by recruiting and employing the highest qualified staff for our schools and to serve those with whom we work.Summary:Adjunct Band InstructorPosition Summary:The Adjunct Band Instructor supports the instrumental and visual components of the band program by providing specialized instruction and assistance in areas such as woodwinds, brass, percussion, color guard, winter guard, winter percussion, and jazz. This position works collaboratively with the Director of Bands and other instructional staff to ensure high-quality educational and performance experiences for students.Responsibilities:Essential Duties:Provide group and/or individual instruction to students in assigned area(s) of expertise (e.g., woodwinds, brass, percussion, color guard, winter guard, winter percussion, jazz).Assist with rehearsals, sectionals, and performances for marching band, concert band, jazz band, and auxiliary ensembles.Support the Director of Bands in planning and executing rehearsals, performances, and competitions.Demonstrate and teach proper technique, musicianship, and performance skills appropriate to the ensemble and instrument/discipline.Promote a positive and professional learning environment for all students.Help organize and maintain band equipment, instruments, uniforms, and other instructional materials as assigned.Attend scheduled rehearsals, performances, and events, which may include evenings and weekends.Provide constructive feedback and individualized support to help students develop technical and performance excellence.Assist with recruitment and retention efforts for the band and auxiliary programs.Uphold program, school, and district policies, ensuring student safety and well-being at all times.Other information:Qualifications:Must be 19 years old or older.Demonstrated experience and proficiency in one or more of the following areas: woodwinds, brass, percussion, color guard, winter guard, or winter percussion.Prior instructional, performance, or instructional design experience preferred (high school, collegiate, or drum corps level).Greenville County Schools does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, sex, color, disability, religion, or national origin in its dealings with employees, students, the general public, applicants for employment, educational programs, activities, or access to its facilities.
