BHC Consultants is a consulting engineering, planning, and building code and construction compliance firm with offices in Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellingham. We are looking for a full-time summer intern in 2025. BHC is a growing firm with a significant backlog of municipal consulting services contracts for cities, counties, and special purpose districts in the Northwest, supported primarily by Western Washington clients. We are committed to a healthy work-life balance for all staff and offer the flexibility to achieve that balance.GENERAL SUMMARYThe Engineering Intern will acquire basic knowledge and develop engineering skills. They will evaluate, elect, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task, or sequence of tasks, associated with conventional projects with few complex features.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIESPerform basic engineering assignments including preparing calculations, drawings, specifications and planning documents for water, surface water and wastewater utility projects.Support the preparation of water, surface water and wastewater utility studies, evaluations, engineering reports, and comprehensive plans.Utilize engineering software modeling and analysis tools.Research Departments of Health and Ecology regulations and available infrastructure technologies and products used in the construction of water, surface water and wastewater facilities.Perform field work that might include technology pilot testing or construction observation.SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS Assists with development of project proposals.Performs other duties as needed and/ or assigned.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEActively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, or related, Undergraduate or Graduate programExperience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.Experience with Hydraulic modeling products (Innovyze, Bentley and/or Visual Hydraulics)preferred.Completed course work in fluid dynamics, water/wastewater treatment, hydrology, and waterchemistry preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESStrong time management and organizational skills.Must be able to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing).Must be able to work closely and coordinate with project team members while also working independently and taking responsibility for work performed.Strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles.Knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS and/or Revit (BIM) design software products preferred.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONSWashington State Driver's License and insurable driving record preferred.BHC Consultants, LLC is an equal opportunity employer committed to the principles of non-discrimination in the workplace.
