Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe Position Lorenz Clinic is a multi-site outpatient psychology practice serving children, families, adults, and couples. The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for ensuring all accounts are processed through insurance properly, and patient accounts are paid in a timely manner. Accounts Receivable Specialists should be familiar with ethical billing practices and are responsible for maintaining hundreds of patient accounts to ensure payment. The A/R Specialist reports directly to the Revenue Cycle Manager.Job Duties Check insurance benefits and eligibility for all new and existing patients, and communicate these benefits with the responsible clinicianProcess credit card payments for copays and other patient responsibilityWork with patients with past due accounts to set up payment plansInvestigate denied claims for successful processing & receipt of payment from insuranceWork with the clinicians to obtain insurance authorizationsSubmit claims in a timely mannerComplete and submit EAP billing forms and invoices with follow-up as neededCorrespond with clients, insurers and others involved in the billing process via phone, email and patient portalProvide excellent customer serviceWork to reduce aging and average days' receivablesRespond to payer inquiries in a timely mannerReview provider billing entries to ensure accuracyAttend trainings and meetings as scheduledMaintain up-to-date knowledge of ever-changing billing regulationsLog insurance receipts and patient receipts to ensure they are accurately attributed to accountsWork with the billing supervisor to create more efficient workflowsOther duties as assignedRequirements At least 18 years of ageHigh School Diploma or equivalentPrior billing experienceExperience in claims processing along with rules and regulations relating to Medicare, Managed Care and third-party payersKnowledge of Medicare, Managed Care and Insurance reimbursement systems, including billing forms and requirements for various third-party payersReliable transportationBasic math skillsOutstanding communication skills via phone and emailAbility to maintain a high level of professionalism at all timesProficiency in all Microsoft applications, especially Excel and WordProficiency in all Google applicationsProficiency in provider & payment portals, such as, but not limited to, Availity, PaySpan, Echo Payments, etc.High level of critical thinking skills, self-motivation, and integrityExtreme attention to detail and organizationPositive, team-player attitudeStable and successful work or school historyAbility to maintain interpersonal boundaries and protect client and clinic confidentialityAbility to sit for long periods of timeAbility to work on a computer for long periods of timeWillingness to learn and master new softwareFlexible and adaptable to changePreferred Qualities Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Medical Billing or Coding, Medical Administration, or similar fieldHIPAA experience or trainingPrior experience with managed care networks and EAPs, especially within the Mental Health fieldPrior collections experience is helpfulPrior experience with Athenanet EHR systemPrior experience billing psychological testing, CTSS codes, and/or E/M codesSalary Description $21 - $24 / hour
