Role ResponsibilitiesTexana Café seeks a Café Coordinator who has an appetite for a culinary work in our restaurant space in Fulshear, Texas. This is a great opportunity for individuals who have worked in the food industry who want to support providing employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Our mission is to make and serve exceptional quality food and drink whilesupporting meaningful employment for neurodiverse individuals We believe that with the right training and support, individuals with developmental disabilities have limitless possibilities in working in the culinary space.The Café Coordinator works as part of restaurant team with daily supervision from a manager. The Café Coordinator provides hospitality services to customers dining in the restaurant or shopping for retail items. This includes providing exceptional customer service, preparing food, serving food, packaging food, completing cleaning routines, and assisting customers with the purchase of retail items. The Café Coordinator will assist managers in training Café Interns on essential duties related to food preparation, food serving and retail sales as well as training in accepting and responding to feedback from supervisors. Café Coordinators must be comfortable working with individuals with special needs while they complete all job duties. These duties are provided on an as needed basis.Café Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of a wide variety of cafe food items such as coffee, sandwiches, and salads and prepare a variety of baked goods such as cakes, cookies, and candies following recipes. The Café Coordinator will also assist in serving customers, packaging orders, and completing cleaning protocols. Shift work is available duringthe hours of 6:00am and 4:00pm on an as needed basis. Texana Café's business hours are 8:00am-3:00pm Tuesday-Saturday.Key responsibilities include:Train and supervise Café Interns on essential job duties.Adhere to health and safety standards (training provided)Maintain an orderly cooking stationCreate meals and dessertsMonitor stocks for ingredients such as bread, cheese, flour, sugar etc.Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devicesComplete cleaning protocols in assigned areas to maintain a clean kitchen and café.Salary$15.84/hour starting$16.72/hour after 6 months$17.60/hour after one yearRequired Education and/or Certifications, Experience, SkillsHigh school diploma or GEDOne year working in the food industry, retail, or hospitality industry.Preferred Education and/or Certifications, Experience, SkillsBaking, restaurant experience, casual dining experience, or culinary class experience: (Preferred but NOT required)Holder or previous holder of Food Handler CertificationTeaching or training experienceJob Related Physical RequirementsKneelingPushingStoopingClimbing StairsWalkingStanding SittingHearing (with Aid)Operate Kitchen EquipmentAbility to SeeAbility to WriteModerate Lifting (15lb-45lb)Stand for extended periods of timeTexana Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer
