Mechanical Engineer - Robotics Fredericksburg, VA Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 per yearPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Robotics to support the design, development, and implementation of innovative robotic and mechatronic systems. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving and wants to work across the full product lifecycle-from concept through testing and deployment.You'll collaborate with a cross-functional engineering team to design high-performance mechanical systems while contributing to cutting-edge robotics programs.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in the design and development of robotic and mechatronic systemsCreate 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings (SolidWorks preferred)Develop production-ready designs for machined parts, weldments, and assembliesPerform structural analysis using hand calculations and FEA toolsSelect appropriate materials based on performance, cost, and durabilityDesign and analyze mechanical systems including motors, gearboxes, bearings, and linkagesConduct testing, data analysis, and troubleshooting to improve system performanceCollaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teamsSupport full system integration and maintain accurate technical documentationApply design for manufacturability (DFM) principles to optimize cost and efficiencyTroubleshoot mechanical and system-level issues during development and productionEnsure compliance with quality and safety standardsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field0-3 years of relevant experience (internships or co-ops included)Strong understanding of robotics fundamentals (kinematics, dynamics, statics)Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)Solid foundation in mechanical design and analysisStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environmentPreferred QualificationsHands-on experience in robotics, automation, or mechatronics systemsFamiliarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)Experience with FEA tools (SolidWorks Simulation or similar)Experience selecting and integrating motors, actuators, and transmissionsExposure to sensors (load cells, strain gauges, Hall-effect, position, temperature)Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and WordKey Skills & CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityEffective communication and collaboration skillsAbility to quickly learn new tools and technologiesOrganized with strong documentation habitsWork EnvironmentPrimarily office-based engineering settingOccasional work in lab or manufacturing environments (noise, dust, temperature variation)Use of standard engineering and office equipmentThe Process: To apply for this position, please follow these steps: Apply for this job with your current resume.
