Field Service Engineer

Field Service Engineer 100% Domestic Travel 40-55 hours per week Position Summary Responsible for the mechanical assembly, startup, commissioning, qualification, and acceptance of a variety of applications including metal cutting machines, assembly, test, conveyance, and transfer systems.   Responsibilities Understands customer corporate and plant standards required to commission systems. Responsible for the overall start-up, commissioning, runoff, and acceptance of machines and systems. Responsible for mechanical assembly and integration of components and sub-components up to and including completed machines or systems. Responsible for understanding CMM or other inspection data and making effective machine adjustments to achieve output quality requirements. Coordinate and review with colleagues to maintain consistency within a given project. Checks drawings for errors and reports errors and suggested modification to Engineering as required, within the customer change process guidelines. Works within the scope definition and timing requirements. Performs troubleshooting and debugging for intermediate to complex machine applications.   Required Skills Skilled in mechanical component and sub-component assembly: fixtures, spindles, drives, etc. Skilled in CNC machining system fundamentals: axis identification and troubleshooting, etc. Understanding of mechanical and fluids drawings, working knowledge of electrical drawings. Understanding of Geometric Data and Tolerances (GD&T), CMM reports. Experienced with manufacturing processes: metal cutting and assembly/test process. Experienced with ISO programming conventions: G-code and M-code part programming Highly skilled with conventional measurement tools: micrometers, calipers, gages, etc. Skilled with electronic measuring tools: ball-bar, laser, etc. Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and wiring fundamentals. FANUC and/or Siemens experience required.   Required Qualifications: Associate degree in mechanical technology and 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Field service experience.
