GENERAL SUMMARY Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Facilities Manager will oversee all District custodial, maintenance, and grounds staff and activities. ________________________________________________________________________ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: With input from the Director of Operations, coordinates work schedules including vacation schedules as per SEIU contract. Interviews, supervises, trains and evaluates employees working a variety of shifts. Ensures departmental compliance with SEIU Collective Bargaining Agreement. Oversees work methods and requirements, reviews new cleaning products and ensures training on proper use and safe application. Participates in and facilitates District's preventative maintenance and work order program. Works with employees and district office to ensure appropriate substitute coverage. Responsible for training, coaching, and developing facilities employees Responsible for ensuring compliance with L&I and OSHA regulations. Coordinates with the Business Office and the Director of Operations to procure the needed supplies and equipment for the department Works within the budgetary constraints of the Facilities Department as developed by the Business Office and the Director of Operations. Manages supply inventory to maintain appropriate levels for all department tasks. Responds to alarms and emergencies as needed. Attendance at occasional evening meetings and periodic in-person check-ins with evening shift employees required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Background in maintenance, grounds and/or custodial service strongly preferred. * Prior management experience preferred. ________________________________________________________________________ REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Demonstrated ability to work well with staff members and administrators. * Ability to read, write, speak, calculate and communicate effectively. * Knowledge of custodial and maintenance requirements for multi-use facilities. * Ability to work with diverse groups. * Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision and skill in supervision. * Ability to organize and prioritize work. * Ability to construct, implement, and monitor timelines and meet deadlines on projects and reports. * Ability to multi-task, allowing for interruptions, and work well under pressure. * Demonstrated proficiency on MS Office programs _______________________________________________________________________ CONDITIONS/ACKNOWLEDGMENT This job description is intended to provide an overview of the requirements of the position.
