Senior Project Manager - Job DescriptionImprove Group (IG) Senior Project Managers drive the success of our project implementation on key strategic projects. As the Sr. PM, you will synthesize and uphold a clear system of records for each assigned IG project, enabling you to provide a comprehensive weekly overview to the VP of Operations. Additionally, your expertise will support other PM's to ensure operational continuity across all functions.This role is required to be based in one of the following locations: Albuquerque, Phoenix, El Paso, or Tucson. Frequent travel is required, estimated to be 30%-60% of total time worked.Job Responsibilities: In addition to running strategic projects as their primary responsibility, the Sr. PM will provide support as needed for the following:Serve as the first-level support to other PMs in developing their project plans-providing guidance on day-to-day execution to drive consistency in project delivery and enhance the quality of weekly updates to the VP of Operations. When issues exceed your expertise, you'll escalate them directly to the VP of Operations. By sharing your expertise and mentoring colleagues, you'll foster project success across the team.Perform "pre contract" site assessment support as needed, as delegated and identified by the VP of Operations, to verify scopes and assist in determining the best path forward on new projects.Support the PM's by assisting them as necessary in proactively managing project risks, including financial, safety, and contractual risks. Consult with VP of Operations as needed to ensure mitigation strategies are implemented early in the project lifecycles.Team Leadership and Development:Support VP of Operations in the development and coaching of the Project Management team to effectively manage complex projects with committed timelines and budgets.Participate in regular meetings with the VP of Operations to review team workloads and provide feedback to help identify future staffing needs, adjust current assignments, and inform long-term resourcing decisions.Support the development and implementation of site-specific safety programs and protocols for both IG employees and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with IG's overall safety policy, training, and standards.Participate in training new hires on project management practices, workflows, and systems to ensure consistency and successful onboarding within the PM team.Independently perform pre-proposal scope reviews and prepare product submittal packages for all assigned key projects, including full ownership of the following activities:Review project scope with the Sales and Design Team to confirm deliverables and ensure alignment across teams.Identifying gaps or risks in proposals.Evaluate and select appropriate subcontractors and vendors for the execution of defined scope elements.Compile external estimates and develop comprehensive, firm fixed-price proposals for client-facing documentation.Prepare detailed product submittal packages and formal documentation-collaborating with the Design Team as needed-and submit for client approval prior to issuing purchase orders to vendors.Additionally, provide guidance to Project Managers in these same areas when designated by the VP of Operations.Independently manage all necessary pre-construction activities for assigned projects, including scheduling and conducting key meetings such as:Internal informational sessions with the project team to align on scope, schedule, and responsibilities.On-site kickoff meetings with key stakeholders to confirm expectations and project readiness.Additionally, may provide support to Project Managers in these areas when designated by the VP of Operations.Perform regular site visits:Coordinate and conduct regular travel to project sites for check-ins or closeout as the complexity of each project requires. Prepare necessary reports related to such visits.Logistics Management on Key projects as Sr. PM on the following:Manage product orders, deliveries, and related logistics.Coordinate with relevant team members to track all orders and delivery dates, which includes incorporating critical path items into Gantt schedules.Project/Strategic Management on Key projects as Sr. PM on the following:Meticulously track the status of every project.Strategically guide projects to completion.Create Gantt schedules for each project and maintain them on a weekly basis to ensure timely delivery of scope.Coordinate daily check-ins and weekly status meetings with an on-site supervisor and/or implementation teams.Respond to any challenges and changes that arise.Independently lead the closeout of successfully completed key projects as a Senior Project Manager, including:Performing all necessary quality assurance/quality control checks prior to client final walkthroughs.Preparing and distributing comprehensive project closeout packages to clients and internal stakeholders.Completing project closeouts with final photography, job costing reports, and resolution of any outstanding warranty items.Additionally, support the PM team with closeout activities when designated by the VP of Operations.Required Skills/Experience:10+ years' experience in managing Construction or similar projects.Experience in construction estimating practices.Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification strongly preferred.Experience in conducting complete project scope reviews.Proven success in managing multiple DoD/Federal projects successfully.Ability to manage and maintain project schedules.Ability to work in various scheduling software and estimating programs.Proven experience training and mentoring others.Ability to drive projects and project teams forward even when conditions are uncertain.Ability to adapt to managing projects that range beyond the traditional construction scope.Ability to travel to job sites to meet with customers and resources.Experience working in and designing for secure government environments is preferred.Prior Military experience preferred.Must be proficient with MS Suite applications including Outlook, Teams Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Dynamics.Knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and industry best practices.Ability to communicate effectively and work with others/function as part of a team and maintain good working relationships within other IG departments in a variety of time zones.Strong business communication acumen (written and verbal).Clean driving record with proof of insurance and valid driver's license.Ability to gain access to DoD facilities (required).Compensation Structure:Competitive Base Salary ($100,000-$130,000)Participation in the Employee Company Bonus (annual)Participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
