Fullstack Engineer- Java, Angular, AWS

Title: Sr. Fullstack Engineer Location : Rockville, MD or McLean, VA Target Start Date : ASAP Type: contract Pay Rate: DOE We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design and build scalable applications that support complex, data-driven workflows in a highly regulated environment. This role requires strong backend and frontend expertise, along with experience in modern DevOps practices, automation, and secure software development. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across the full development lifecycle and leveraging modern tools, including AI-assisted development, to improve efficiency and quality. Key Responsibilities Full Stack Development Design and develop full stack applications supporting data-intensive workflows, analytics, and reporting Build performant and secure RESTful and GraphQL APIs using modern backend frameworks such as Java (Spring Boot) or Python Develop responsive, accessible user interfaces using Angular and TypeScript Collaborate with data engineers, security teams, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable technical solutions Leverage AI-assisted development tools responsibly to enhance productivity while maintaining high standards for code quality and security Automation, CI/CD, and Quality Engineering Architect, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins Implement infrastructure-as-code and support containerized deployments using Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS Design and integrate automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing Embed security best practices into the development lifecycle, including automated scanning and compliance checks Leadership and Ownership (Senior Level) Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance Drive engineering best practices across development, testing, and deployment Ensure systems meet compliance, audit, cybersecurity, and data governance requirements Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term platform evolution Required Qualifications 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 1 2 years in a senior or lead capacity Strong proficiency in backend development using Java (Spring Boot) or Python Deep experience with Angular and TypeScript for frontend development Hands-on experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines end-to-end Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes or ECS) Strong experience with AWS and cloud-native services, including serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL data stores Strong understanding of application security principles, including OWASP Top 10, secrets management, and least-privilege access Experience with modern version control workflows (Git, trunk-based development, or GitFlow) Experience integrating AI/ML models or LLM APIs (such as AWS Bedrock) into production systems Understanding of the importance of human oversight in AI-driven systems, particularly in high-risk or regulated environments Preferred Qualifications Experience working in financial services or other regulated industries Experience building human-in-the-loop systems, review workflows, or AI-assisted decisioning platforms Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka or AWS SQS/SNS Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog or Grafana, including monitoring of AI/ML systems Exposure to feature flagging, canary releases, or progressive delivery practices Contributions to open-source projects or internal developer platform tooling Welcome to ConsultNet, a premier national provider of technology talent and solutions.
