Internship OverviewThe Battle Creek Battle Jacks are offering an opportunity for current college students to gain real-world live sports broadcast experience as a Camera Operator for the 2026 season. This internship is designed for students interested in sports broadcasting and live game production who want hands-on responsibility operating cameras during a collegiate summer baseball season. Camera Operator interns play a critical role in delivering a professional live stream experience for fans watching Battle Jacks games.About the Battle Creek Battle JacksThe Battle Creek Battle Jacks are a proud member of the Northwoods League, the premier collegiate summer baseball league in North America. Based in Battle Creek, Michigan, the Battle Jacks operate like a professional minor league organization while maintaining a culture centered on teamwork, accountability, and community connection.The Northwoods League features elite college players from across North America and operates at a professional level using wooden bats, minor league-spec baseballs, overnight travel, and nightly games in front of thousands of fans.Internship DatesStart Date: On or around mid-May 2026End Date: On or around mid-August 2026Academic QualificationsApplicants should be pursuing a degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, Media Production, Communications, Sport Management, or a related field. Other majors will be considered based on experience.Position ResponsibilitiesGame Day Broadcast ResponsibilitiesServe as a camera operator for all Battle Jacks home gamesOperate assigned broadcast cameras during live game productionFollow direction from the Broadcast Director during live streamsCapture game action, crowd shots, sponsor elements, and in-game promotionsMaintain awareness of inning transitions, pitching changes, and game flowAssist with setup and breakdown of broadcast equipment before and after gamesEnsure proper care and storage of all production equipmentProduction SupportAssist with camera positioning and basic technical setupSupport troubleshooting efforts during live production if neededWork collaboratively with fellow camera operators, director, and broadcast staffGeneral Internship ResponsibilitiesAvailability for all Battle Jacks home games, including nights and weekendsExpected to arrive prior to first pitch for equipment setup and production preparationAssist with limited ballpark setup or teardown duties as assignedMaintain professionalism and represent the Battle Jacks brand in a positive mannerPerform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager or Broadcast SupervisorDesired Skills & QualificationsPrevious experience operating cameras for live events preferred but not requiredUnderstanding of live sports production environment preferredAbility to follow direction clearly in a fast-paced settingStrong attention to detail and awareness of live game situationsAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to lift and carry 30-50 lbsStrong communication and teamwork skillsPositive attitude and willingness to learnCompensationThis internship is structured as an educational and professional development experience. There is no hourly wage associated with the position. The organization will provide a monthly stipend of up to $600 (based on skills and experience) to help offset living expenses such as food, gas, and housing.HousingHousing is not provided.
