Fiber Optic Cable Inspector

RK&K is hiring experienced Fiber Optic Cable Inspectors to join our team throughout the Baltimore/DC/Northern VA area. In this role, you will work on a large-scale radio, cellular, fiber communications effort throughout the metro area. Your expertise in fiber will be used to oversee termination, testing, and inspection of these complex systems, above and below ground.Essential FunctionConduct regular on-site construction quality inspections for all work performed by Project Staff, Contractors and Sub-Contractors to ensure compliance with all contractual requirementsWork constructively with members of the project team to resolve project field-related issues and provide recommendations to key staff membersMaintain and monitor the performance of the project against established Key Performance Indices (KPI's) Review hazard analyses by staff, contractor work plans, completeness of project work (and associated work) and quality reportsAttend or conduct project coordination meetings and quality meetings Complete a daily work report that outlines the work completed for the dayComplete other tasks assigned by the Project ManagerRequired Skills and Experience A minimum of six (6) years' demonstrable experience in system safety and/or construction safetyKnowledge of ISO 9000 quality standards and its application to planning, design and constructionMust successfully attain OSHA 10-Hour (Construction) CertificationExperience with core alignment fusion splicingExperience with OTDR testing and how to properly set up the machine for various test conditionsExperience with insertion loss testingMust be able to operate basic Microsoft Office Applications, Laptop and iPadAbility to communicate effectively across different platforms with project management, clients, stakeholders, and contractorsMay be required to travel out-of-state to conduct manufacturer inspections of facilities and witness factory testingWillingness to work nights, weekends and holidaysMust be able to work in confined spacesMust possess a valid driver's license and favorable driving recordMust have reliable transportationPreferred Skills and Experience Experience with the installation and testing of Air Blown FiberOther DutiesThis job description indicates the general nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other essential functions (as covered under ADA).
