Vision Teacher

Position Type: Professional Educator - Student Services/Vision TeacherDate Posted: 2/2/2026Location: District WideDate Available: 08/24/2026The Sun Prairie Area School District is seeking a Teacher of the Blind or Visually Impaired for 2-2.5 days a week for the 2026-27 school year. We are willing to hire FTE or to work with an independent contractor to fill this need. This position will provide services to our students who are blind or visually impaired across all ages (3-21). The position will be itinerant, meeting the needs of our students in their natural environments and will involve collaborating with classroom teachers, special education teachers, and para professionals to create supportive environments in which our students thrive. Currently we are planning for 15 -20 students with needs (IDEA/504) for the upcoming school year. We are willing to hire this FTE or to develop a long term relationship with an independent contractor, providing stability for the professional as well as the school district while allowing the contractor to work with other surrounding districts to serve this very, very low incidence population. This is a unique and dynamic opportunity. Our current contractor is willing to speak with interested parties and to collaborate in the transition.
