DescriptionPurposeUnder general supervision, the content strategist is solely responsible for developing creative copy for the library's print communications and e-newsletter. The position works in close collaboration with the library's graphic designer, social media coordinator and digital experience manager to develop original content across multiple communications channels, including the library's website, Worthington Memory and social media platforms. The content strategist plays a primary role in developing the library's brand identity and creates, from inception to execution, patron-focused marketing messages that amplify the library's voice and build awareness of our collection, services and programs. Essential Position FunctionsWorking independently, solely creates marketing content for internal and external communication, including newsletter copy, e-newsletter copy, web/landing page copy and various promotional pieces Sees promotional projects through from conception to implementation and distributionStrategizes how and when to promote the library's collection, services and programsPlays a key role in building and maintaining the library's brand and organizational voice across multiple platforms and channelsCoordinates the publication of news, features and information about library events, materials and services on the library websiteCreates and maintains content on the library website to ensure quality, relevance, accessibility and accuracyWrites, edits and proofreads copy for both print and online publicationCoordinates and implements a quarterly publicity scheduleCoordinates distribution of library information and publicity materials to the communityWrites press releases and maintains good relationships with the mediaPrepares monthly publicity packet for the Board of TrusteesAssists with the planning and coordination of library programs and special eventsAssists with the coordination and implementation of innovative marketing and public relationsAttends programs, special events, meetings and serves on committeesRequirementsEducation, Training and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, journalism or related fieldA minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, or journalismProficiency in the use of Adobe Creative Suite Preferred QualificationsFamiliarity with writing for accessibility and inclusivityExperiencing using Drupal or other content management system to create and publish web contentExperience using Mailchimp or other email marketing tool to create and send e-newslettersExperience using an event management or calendar system to create and publish eventsKnowledge of Associated Press (AP) StylebookKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal CharacteristicsAbility to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment in handling information and recordsAbility to work accurately with attention to detailAbility to use correct grammar, punctuation, spelling and publication styleKnowledge of desktop publishing, graphic design, and database management softwareProficient in the use of Microsoft Office Physical DemandsAbility to sit and use computer for extended periods and operate standard office equipment, dailyAbility to lift and move up to fifty (50) pounds, occasionallyTravel by automobile is required occasionallyWorking ConditionsMajority of work performed in general office/library environmentRequires evenings and/or weekendsRequires periodic participation and attendance at events and training
