Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe Nest at CRC: Teacher Central Reform Congregation is a vibrant urban Jewish community dedicated to supporting one another in holy ways, pursuing justice and lifelong learning, and providing a shelter of peace. Job SummaryThe Teacher prepares materials, monitors children, communicates with parents and reinforces materials and lessons covered in the classroom to facilitate student learning. Hours: The Center is open between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. All staff will be assigned a schedule, but schedules may change as the needs of the program change. ResponsibilitiesManages the classroom providing instruction to co-leads or assistant teachers. Creates and organizes classroom activities and lessons. Assigns work and individual projects to the assistant. Escorts students to other areas of the school such as the cafeteria, playground, gym, or other classrooms; monitors their behavior during recess and lunchtime. Addresses any issues that arise between students. Communicate with parents as needed. Assists with student drop-off and pickup. Cares for and attends to the needs of children at the facility including dressing, feeding, and monitoring their activities and playtime. Plans and organizes games and recreational activities for children in a group setting. Plans and teaches activities such as arts and crafts, designed to improve fine and gross motor skills. Encourages children's emotional, social, and physical development, and positive self-concept. Monitors signs of emotional and developmental issues in children and notifies parents, guardians, or authorities of concerns when necessary. Implements developmentally appropriate disciplinary measures to maintain control in the classroom and facility. Teaches children personal and healthy habits such as eating, resting, and personal hygiene. Cleans and sanitizes toys, furniture, and play equipment. Maintains records on individual children including daily observations, activities, meals served, and medications administered. Performs other related duties as assigned. RequirementsRequirements and SkillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Thorough understanding of classroom procedures and management.Ability to relate to children and reinforce lessons taught in class.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to collaborate with other teachers and colleagues .Strong supervisory and leadership skills.Experience with multiple ages of children (0 to 4) or specific experience with a specific age group (0 to 4). Physical Requirements:Able to navigate all areas of the school quickly including indoor and outdoor areas.Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at timesWill be exposed to illness-causing bacteria and viruses.Education and Experience:High school diploma required; Associate's degree or two years of college preferred. CDA or degree in early childhood education highly preferred or significant experience (minimum of two years) in an early childhood programMust complete any training required by the school including maintaining First Aid & CPR certification.
