Water Main Distribution InspectorDepartment: Water/Wastewater Employment Type: Full TimeLocation: St. Louis, MO Reporting To: Greg JovanovicDescriptionGonzalez Companies is a partner managed firm that provides comprehensive Planning, Design, and Construction Management Services to large and small Water, Sewer and Utility Districts; Departments of Transportation; and municipalities. We are currently seeking a Construction Inspector to help serve our connection of clients and community. The CEI will oversee and monitor infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with contract specifications, design plans, and regulatory standards. This role involved acting as the primary on-site representative for the project owner, collaborating with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to facilitate successful project completion.Your Primary Responsibilities will includeInspect construction activities related to water distribution systems, including water main installation, replacement, and rehabilitationVerify contractor work complies with project plans, specifications, permits, and local/state standardsPerform field inspections for trenching, bedding, pipe installation, jointing, backfill, compaction, and surface restorationObserve and document pressure testing, leakage testing, flushing, and disinfection of water mainsCoordinate with contractors, project managers, engineers, and utility representatives to resolve field issuesMaintain accurate daily inspection reports, quantities, photos, and as-built documentationTrack material deliveries and verify materials meet approved submittals and specificationsIdentify non-conforming work and assist with corrective actions and punch list itemsMonitor site safety and ensure compliance with OSHA and project safety requirementsSupport project closeout activities, including final inspections and documentation reviewWhat you'll needHigh school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or technical training in construction, civil engineering, or related field preferred2+ years of construction inspection experience, with a strong focus on linear utility or water/wastewater projectsWorking knowledge of water main construction methods, materials, and testing proceduresFamiliarity with industry standards such as AWWA, ASTM, and local utility requirementsAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedulesExperience preparing field reports, quantity tracking, and documentationStrong communication skills for interaction with contractors and project teamsValid driver's license and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsCertifications such as NICET, ACI, or state DOT/municipal inspection certifications preferred (or ability to obtain)Proficiency with basic computer applications (MS Excel, Word, inspection or field reporting software)Gonzalez Offers Competitive Benefits including:Competitive salaryMajor medical, dental and vision insuranceFlexible Spending AccountHealth Savings Account401KBonus programPaid holidays and generous paid time offProfessional developmentA team of creative and talented individuals to work alongsideGonzalez is a rapidly growing, dynamic, professional services firm specializing in civil engineering, construction management, and construction inspection.
