Post Internal Days 0 Description Role Definition The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for executing and supporting Keen's Quality Assurance and Commissioning standards across fields, shop, and project operations. Working under the direction of the QA Leader, this role ensures installation quality, regulatory compliance, system readiness, and documented verification prior to project turnover. The QA Technician serves as Keen's on-site quality representative during inspections, Pre-functional verifications, and commissioning activities. This role will identify nonconformances, coordinate corrective actions, and protect project performance outcomes. This role supports continuous improvement of the Keen Project Delivery System through structured audits, technical oversight, and Lean-driven process discipline, while maintaining safety as the highest priority in all activities. Provide corrective action recommendations and follow up with the QA Leader to ensure resolution. * Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality policies, procedures, inspection forms, and performance metrics to strengthen operational consistency and customer satisfaction. * Perform on-site inspections and functional tests to validate workmanship, installation accuracy, and adherence to approved drawings and specifications. * Utilize and promote Lean principles and tools to eliminate waste, improve workflow reliability, and strengthen quality outcomes across field, shop, and office operations. * Prefunctional Checklist Management * Develop, implement, and manage prefunctional checklists to verify equipment installation, material condition, and system readiness prior to startup and commissioning activities. * Confirm that incoming equipment and materials meet project specifications and are properly handled, stored, and preserved to prevent damage or performance degradation prior to installation. * Verify completion of required inspections and installation criteria before systems are released for functional testing or commissioning. * Communicate with suppliers and vendors as needed to resolve discrepancies, confirm shipment status, and ensure material quality and documentation requirements are met. * Maintain organized records of checklist completion, deficiencies, and corrective actions to support quality assurance and project turnover documentation. * Project Quality Check-Ins/ Support * Conduct structured quality check-ins of vendors shops and production workflows to verify adherence to company standards, project specifications, and established procedures. * Review and evaluate existing procedures, forms, and workflows. Develop or revise documentation as needed to improve efficiency, clarity, and quality control across departments. * Participate in equipment evaluation and lifecycle planning, including assessment of condition, utilization, repair needs, trade value, and replacement recommendations. * Provide cross-functional support by engaging with field, shop, and office teams to understand processes, strengthen technical knowledge, and promote consistent quality standards company-wide * Technical Expertise * Serve as the technical authority for field verification of process equipment including bucket elevators, conveyors, pneumatic gates and valves, fans and rotating machinery. Verify proper installation, alignment, lubrication, belt tensioning, and operational performance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and project requirements. * Identify performance deficiencies, mechanical risks, and potential failure points. Provide documented corrective action recommendations to Project Management and field leadership. * Act as Keen's technical representative for advanced diagnostic services by confirming qualified providers, verifying procedures and results meet standards, and ensuring required documentation and corrective actions are completed prior to turnover. * Develop and expand Keen's technical services capabilities by identifying service opportunities, supporting business development efforts, and assisting in proposal development for diagnostic and specialty services. * Establish repeatable standards, reporting templates, and training pathways to ensure consistency and scalability of technical services across projects. * Commissioning plans & execution * Lead and execute commissioning of all new and modified dust collection systems, including checkout and startup of dust filters, fans, airlocks, solenoids, and associated control components. * Perform and document dust system balancing and system performance validations to ensure compliance with design intent and project specifications. * Produce formal commissioning documentation including balancing reports, startup checklists, deficiency logs, and final verification reports. * Verify accuracy of as-built drawings and document all field modifications prior to turnover. * Serve as Keen's on-site commissioning representative, coordinating with Project Management, field crews, subcontractors, and customer representatives to ensure system readiness and performance compliance. * Identify performance deficiencies, direct corrective actions, and verify resolution prior to customer handoff. * Ensure complete and professional project turnover, including validated system performance, finalized documentation, and customer sign-off. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum 2+ years of experience in industrial construction, millwright, mechanical systems, or related field operations. * Demonstrated experience in quality inspections, equipment installation verification, or commissioning support. * OSHA 30 certification (OSHA 10 minimum required). * Valid driver's license with acceptable MVR. * Ability to travel up to 60% as project needs require. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and digital documentation platforms. * Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and installation manuals. * Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check. * Ability to communicate professionally with customers, subcontractors, and internal project teams. PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly. * Continuous use of vision, hearing, speaking, and manual dexterity. * Frequent standing, sitting, handling, and fine motor coordination. * Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs. * Ability to work in confined spaces including trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels. * Ability to safely navigate uneven, irregular, or steep terrain and work around active construction or industrial environments. * Ability to respond quickly to sounds and visual signals in potentially hazardous environments. * Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods. * Ability to work in varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise. * Occasional walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching. * Ability to stand for extended durations on concrete or industrial surfaces.
