ELEMENTARY TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title:Elementary Teacher Reports to: Head of School Shift Type: Full Time Position Contract Term: 10 Months Location: Islamic School of Irving PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject areas assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in a global society. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education/Certification:Bachelor's Degree; a Master's degree or a closely related field is a plus. (US Degree equivalency of overseas degree must be submitted)Preferably a valid Texas teaching certificate from an accredited college or universityAbility to work well with all stakeholdersProficiency in basic computer applicationsMinimum of one year of successful teaching in a public or private school in a related field in the US or at least one (1) year of student teaching or an approved internshipPreference for candidates with degrees from accredited US colleges/universitiesSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Demonstrated competency in the assigned core academic subject areaKnowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to instruct students effectively and manage their behaviorStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsProficiency in integrating technology into instructionMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Instructional Strategies:Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with curriculum standardsAnalyze and utilize data from standardized tests to guide instructionDesign lessons that accommodate individual student differencesPresent subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and school policiesAdapt instructional methods, materials, and strategies to accommodate diverse learning needsCollaborate with colleagues in planning and implementing instructional goals and methodsSupervise teacher aides and volunteers in the classroomUtilize technology to enhance teaching and student engagementStudent Growth and Development:Support students in developing effective study habits and learning strategiesConsistently monitor and assess student achievement through formative and summative assessmentsParticipate in extracurricular activities and duties as assignedServe as a positive role model aligned with the school's missionClassroom Management and Organization:Create a structured, engaging, and inclusive learning environmentImplement and enforce classroom management policies in accordance with the school's Code of ConductTake necessary precautions to ensure student safety and maintain school resourcesAssist in the selection of instructional materials and resourcesCommunication:Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and guardiansFoster professional relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and community membersCommunicate effectively through various platforms to support student learning and engagementProfessional Growth and Development:Stay updated with current best practices in education and instructional strategiesParticipate in professional development opportunitiesDemonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and professional growthComply with all state and school regulations and policies for teachersMaintain accurate records, reports, and documentation as requiredAttend faculty meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and actively serve on school committeesExhibit professional and ethical conduct in alignment with school valuesTutoring:Provide 90 minutes of tutoring weekly (two sessions of 45 minutes) for At-Risk studentsSupport students with additional academic assistance as neededWORKING CONDITIONS:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional stability and problem-solving skills under stressCommunicate effectively in verbal and written formatsAnalyze data and make informed instructional decisionsSafety:Promote a safe learning environment by adhering to school policies and safety protocolsFollow safety procedures, use personal protective equipment when necessary, and report any safety concernsThe foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all duties, skills, or responsibilities.
