A Maintenance Technician will usually be required to perform a widerange of repair tasks around a facility. Examples of Duties Examples of Duties: Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fishing structural damage, for example, window, door or wall repairRepairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixturesWorking on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occursMaintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properlyApplying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems, such as using a sealant on a flat roofFixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuriesPainting the building when old paint has become faded or chippedPlumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs or other drainage problemsElectrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with the building's electricityCarpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the buildingGrounds keeping if the facility contains lawns or other outdoor areas in need of maintenanceInterpersonal skills to interact with employees or residents to the building in a pleasant mannerAttention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlookedPhysical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the buildingOther duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or an equivalent degree such as a GED Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications: Certifications are not required, although they can be useful as a means of demonstrating apotential candidate's ability to handle the rigors of the job effectively.Plumbing, carpentry or electrical certifications demonstrate an applicant's versatility as amaintenance professional and indicate an applicant who may provide added valuecompared to other applicants without comparable certifications All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring immigration sponsorship, including but not limited to non-immigrant visas, such as H1B, STEM, or F1, now and in the future.New College of Florida (NCF) is an equal opportunity employer and educational provider committed to a policy of non-discrimination for any member of the NCF community on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veterans' status, marital status, or any other legally protected group status.
