About the PostionThe Heinz History Center is seeking several Exhibit Technicians to join our Exhibit team. The Exhibit Technician's primary responsibility is to assist with the development, production, installation maintenance and de-installation of exhibits. The successful candidate will assist with the fabrication of exhibits including painting, construction, making mounts, installing objects and graphics, and creating hands-on interactives. Other responsibilities include drywall spakling and finishing, painting, sanding, cleaning and maintenance of exhibit galleries, assistance with A/V equipment and maintaining a clean / safe wood shop and fabrication area. This is a Casual position with hours based on the Exhibit Schedule. There is no guarantee of the number of hours per week, but Exhibit Techs are generally scheduled 8 to 29 hours per week, you may be asked to work some evening and weekends.Why Work at the Heinz History Center? Experience in exhibit or theater production or construction is a plus. Must be proficient is using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools. Ability to read technical documents, drawings and blue prints. Understanding of advanced construction and structure. Must have a strong understanding of carpenty techniques and methods of installation and construction. This job requires the ability to be a team player, as well as be able to function independently. Self-motivation is important. This position is physically demanding requiring extensive lifting, bending, walkings, climbing and standing. A strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions is imperative.
