Building on its 130+ year legacy of innovation and effective programming, Henry Street offers more than 50 programs and is one of New York City's largest social service organizations.Program OverviewThe Third Street Women's Residence is a transitional shelter program serving 79 Unhoused women who are living with Behavioral health conditions and are seeking permanent housing. The program provides transitional housing and comprehensive supportive services designed to help residents stabilize, develop life management skills, and successfully transition to permanent housing. Staff provide social services and housing placement assistance while supporting residents in managing their mental health and achieving greater independence. When appropriate, residents are referred to community-based resources and partner organizations.Job SummaryThe Shift Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the residence during assigned shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overnight coverage as scheduled. The Shift Supervisor provides direct supervision to program staff and ensures that residents receive services that meet regulatory, contractual, and agency standards, including housing placement outcomes. This role requires strong crisis management, operational oversight, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams to support residents and improve their quality of life and progress toward permanent housing.QualificationsBachelor's degree is preferred, or a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in human services, behavioral health Shelter, or a related fieldAbility to obtain the following certifications within the first three (3) months of employment:CPR/First AidFire Safety Director / Fire Safety and Alarm Systems (F-80) certificationExperience providing crisis interventionStrong computer proficiencyStrong clinical assessment and documentation skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBilingual (English/Spanish) preferredKey ResponsibilitiesStaff SupervisionTrain, coaching, and conduct performance evaluations for assigned staffProvide guidance and support to ensure staff follow program policies and Henry Street Settlement ValuesClient ServicesUtilizing a client strength base and trauma informed approach and interview prospective residents and complete intake documentationConduct client assessments and document changes in condition or service needsDevelop practical service plans to support resident stability and housing goalsProvide crisis intervention and appropriate support during emergenciesProgram OperationsMaintain safety and security within the residenceConduct scheduled fire drills and ensure compliance with safety proceduresPerform regular facility walkthroughs and rounds to ensure compliance with fire safety and Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) standardsMaintain accurate client records, census logs, and program documentationReporting and DocumentationPrepare daily, weekly, and monthly reportsDocument incidents and ensure timely follow-upMaintain accurate program records and client dataCollaborationParticipate in interdisciplinary team meetings to review resident cases and service plansMaintain effective communication across program units and staff teamsBuild collaborative working relationships with internal staff and external partnersAdministrative DutiesMaintain daily meal sign-in logs for residentsTrack and maintain expenditure recordsSupport security, maintenance, and kitchen staff as neededPerform other duties as assigned by the supervisorEssential Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods and walk stairs throughout the facilityAbility to work fully onsite in the Lower East Side Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
