Job Type Full-timeDescriptionPosition Summary: Northwood Academy Charter School (NACS) Teacher is responsible for instructing students and creating relevant learning experiences in a supportive K-8 environment. The Teacher provides a rigorous academic and classroom built upon the school's core values of high expectations and meaningful relationships. Additionally, the Teacher uses knowledge, competency, and a positive nature to provide students with a strong foundation for future educational and social opportunities.Essential Accountabilities:Practice and develop Key Teacher Skills dailyBring joy and excitement to the work every dayPlan, internalize, and deliver high quality lesson plans using designated curriculaImplement curricula and coordinate classroom learning activities grounded in academic standards and character developmentsReinforce academic concepts by teaching whole and small groups and tutoring individual studentsSupport a positive classroom environment by employing classroom management strategies, behavior interventions, and social emotional learningUse assessment data and feedback structures to inform your instructional decisions, attend and take ownership in data meetings with Assistant Principals or other instructional leadersConduct appropriate assessments of students' work and maintain accurate and regular data on students in areas of attendance, grades and IEP progress if applicable.Communicate with students with optimistic growth mindset languageCommunicate effectively with students, families, and colleaguesAdditional duties as assignedRequirementsEducation/Experience:Bachelor's degree required with a record of personal, professional, and/or academic achievementTeacher certification - completed or in processActive and valid Pennsylvania state clearances and credentials.Demonstrated expertise in subject areaQualifications:Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroomMastery of and enthusiasm for Education and teachingEvidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team playerBelief in service for others and service learningBelief in and alignment with NACS' missionCommitment to and experience working with underserved communitiesDetermination to drive student achievement and set high expectations for all studentsWorking Conditions: Usually work indoors in classrooms, may sometimes teach outdoors or supervise playgrounds. Work very near others, within a few feet or less. Working with young children often entails close contact. Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity, hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels.Physical Requirements: There are physical aspects of this position to successfully carry out essential job functions such as ability to lift or carry supplies, textbooks, and equipment up to 30 pounds. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, see, hear, and speak daily. Employees in this classification may be subject to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, high noise levels, and various work-related hazards.
