Associate Distribution Design Engineer

Talascend is currently seeking an Associate Distribution Disign Engineer located in Irving , Texas. Overview The role involves ensuring high-quality project delivery in electric utility design engineering, working directly with clients, and gaining experience in various engineering areas. Responsibilities Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV. Comply with safety requirements as well as design and quality expectations. Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections and return to the office to perform engineering design work. Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, and voltage drop calculations. Develop permitting documents for different authorities having jurisdiction. Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews. Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design. Qualifications Completed Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred) from an ABET accredited institution Requirements Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, as some customer-related travel could be anticipated. Willingness to perform both field and office work; ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion. Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills. Collaborative attitude and inclusivity of individuals of diverse backgrounds and geographic locations. Ability to work with limited supervision. Positive attitude. Professional dress and demeanor. Preferred Requirements Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc or similar. Experience using CAD tools, MicroStation and/or GIS. Experience with NESC.
