Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer (Mechanical Engineer II)Openings: 2Location: Las Colinas, TXDepartment: Mechanical EngineeringReports To: Director of Mechanical EngineeringCompensation: $85,000 - $117,000, based on experience and technical capability.Role SnapshotThis is a true mid-level engineering role. Not entry-level. Not senior. You'll work on technically complex, mission-critical projects such as airports and data centers, along with retrofit work in existing buildings where creative problem-solving is required. Engineers in this role are trusted to interact directly with clients and vendors and are given autonomy without being thrown into situations they can't support.If you want real engineering work, real ownership, and exposure that actually builds your career, this role delivers.Position OverviewThe Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer supports the design and delivery of complex mechanical systems across new construction and retrofit projects. The role blends HVAC system design, Revit-based production, multidisciplinary coordination, and construction support. Engineers are expected to work independently while collaborating closely with senior engineers and project teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign HVAC and mechanical systems for mission-critical, commercial, government, and infrastructure projectsPerform heating, cooling, ventilation, exhaust, and energy calculationsDesign ductwork, hydronic, and fuel oil systems in accordance with firm standardsSize ductwork and piping using established engineering guidelinesDevelop construction documents primarily in RevitCoordinate designs with architectural, civil, electrical, and technology disciplinesWork directly with clients and equipment vendorsSupport creative engineering solutions for retrofit projects in existing buildingsReview submittals, RFIs, and change ordersPerform site visits, field observations, and punch list documentationAssist with project specifications and basis-of-design documentationSupport and mentor junior engineers and designersIdentify design risks early and communicate effectively with the project teamProject TypesAirportsData centersMission-critical facilitiesCommercial and government buildingsNew construction and retrofit projectsRequired Experience & SkillsApproximately 3-6 years of experience in an MEP consulting environmentStrong HVAC and mechanical systems design experienceProficiency in Revit (primary design platform)Experience with load and energy analysis software (HAP, Trace 700, or equivalent)Working knowledge of mechanical and energy codesComfortable communicating directly with clients and vendorsAbility to work independently while knowing when to ask questionsPreferred QualificationsExposure to mission-critical projects such as airports or data centersExperience with retrofit work in existing buildingsFamiliarity with LEED or sustainability standardsEngineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred, not requiredEducationBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited universityTravelApproximately 10%, project-basedKeywordsMid Level Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer II, HVAC Engineer, Revit MEP, Mission Critical Engineering, Data Center HVAC, Airport Engineering, MEP Consulting, Energy Modeling, HVAC Design
