Job Title: Temporary Full-Time MaintainerDepartment: FacilitiesFLSA Status: Non-ExemptEmployment Status: TemporaryFull-Time (40 hours per week) through June 30, 2026Hourly Rate: $22.00Union Position: NoReports To: Director of Facilities and Chief MaintainerPosition OverviewThe Maintainer provides the highest standards of museum maintenance, safety and cleanliness for the Museum's visitors, programs, and staff. The Maintainers primary responsibilities are the daily cleaning and maintenance of the Museum's facilities and grounds. The Maintainer will also assist with the supervision of outside contractors, vendors, and service providers; and coordination of work and projects with the museum Chief Engineer as needed. The Maintainer reports to the Facilities Director and Chief Maintainer.Primary Responsibilities/Tasks:Daily cleaning and maintenance is to include but not limited to vacuum, floor scrubber, floor buffer, dusting, snow blower, power washer, ladder, cleaning chemicals, mop, broom, shovel and other equipment or methods as required.Daily cleaning and restocking of all restrooms.Daily cleaning of all public, staff and back of house spaces to include but not limited to floors, walls, carpets, ceilings, furniture, glass, mirrors, cabinets, tables, light fixtures, doors, door hardware, chairs, elevators.Graffiti removal.Daily glass façade and sidewalk cleaning.Detailed cleaning of museum staff offices and cubicles.Daily trash and recycling removal from all spaces.Skylight cleaning and maintenance as needed.Regular inspection and cleaning of all exterior roof storm drains and gutters.Replacing light bulbs as needed.Painting and paint touch ups as needed.Perform light repairs on but not limited to door hardware, electrical and plumbing.Facilitate with NYC agency or outside vendor inspections or maintenance visits as needed.Special event set up and break down.Oversee and assist outside vendors for special events.Snow Removal.Assist with package receiving and delivery. Assist the Facilities Director, Chief Engineer or Chief Maintainer with special assignments as needed.Flexible scheduling to accommodate special events and staff coverage.Qualifications:Minimum of five (5) years custodial or maintainer experience.Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.Must be able to work weekends and eveningsMust have a hands-on approach and strong technical aptitude.
