You belong at Hopkins.SUMMARY:Assist students in various school environments, including the classroom, playground, and other school environments; assist students and implement strategies for learning academic skills, such as reading and math; assist students with learning skills needed to transition to greater independence; and participate in other duties assigned by staff.QUALIFICATIONS:Candidates must have at least two years post-secondary training and be able to demonstrate a minimum of 1-2 years previous experience with students with special needs; the ability to work with students having emotional, physical, and cognitive special needs; the ability to take the initiative in responding to students' needs in a manner which is respectful and effective; ability to provide opportunities for students to complete tasks independently, when appropriate; flexibility in responding to students needs; ability to maintain student confidentiality; ability to work with students individually, in groups, in a resource room, or through computer use; ability to respond to health care needs such as toileting, feeding, transferring knowledge of and ability to implement behavior management strategies.PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
