Summary: This individual is responsible for adhering to all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe and productive working environment. This position is responsible for interpreting shop drawings and technical drawings, measuring and cutting raw materials, and assembling structural steel components according to specifications. This position works under the direction of the Leaderman and reports to the Plant Superintendent. Qualifications:Strong ability to read and interpret shop drawings. Basic math and measurement skills. Proficiency in welding techniques, particularly in MIG, TIG, GMAW for heavy steel. Measure, cut, bend and shape steel using hand and power tools, torches, grinders. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, shop drawings, or schematics. Familiarity with operating plasma cutters and welding equipment, plus tools used in steel fabrication. A solid understanding of safety protocols and best practices in a manufacturing setting. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Able to climb stairs on a regular basis. Conduct quality checks to ensure work meets specifications and standards. Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and fabrication goals. Maintain tools and equipment and report any malfunctions. Responsibilities As a Fabricator, you will handle various responsibilities essential to producing high-quality steel girder components. These will include: Reading and interpreting shop drawings and specifications to determine fabrication/welding requirements. Operating heavy machinery such as robotic welding equipment, grinding and drilling tools, overhead cranes and oxy-fuel cutting torch to assemble steel parts. Inspecting fabricated components for accuracy, alignment, and quality standards before final assembly. Collaborating with engineers and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve fabrication challenges. Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized workspace to ensure a safe working environment. Physical RequirementsThis role involves hands-on work in a manufacturing environment and requires the following physical capabilities: Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) regularly throughout the workday. Standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods while fabricating and assembling components. Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and noise typical of a steel fabrication facility. Proficiency in using hand tools and machinery that require manual dexterity and precision. Stamina to manage physically demanding tasks and maintain focus during repetitive processes. May involve exposure to fumes, chemicals, and loud noise. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
