Job Description: Quality Engineer (PPAP) We are seeking a Quality Engineer with hands-on experience authoring and executing PPAPs and leading product and process validation activities. This role supports new product launches, engineering changes, and ongoing production by ensuring PPAP submissions and validations meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements. Experience in automotive or medical device manufacturing is strongly preferred due to the rigor of PPAP and validation expectations. Responsibilities + Author and submit PPAPs, ensuring at least Level 3 proficiency, with exposure to Levels 4/5 preferred. + Own core PPAP elements, including Control Plans, PFMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, First Article Inspections (FAIs), Dimensional Results, and PSWs. + Plan, execute, and review validations as a key component of PPAP processes. + Write and execute test method validations, including inspection methods like corrosion inspection. + Develop and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for inspection and validation activities. + Execute structured validation studies, including determining sample sizes, operators, runs, and acceptance criteria, and report results. + Review validation data and confirm that acceptance criteria are met prior to production release. + Support Supplier Quality activities primarily as a PPAP reviewer. + Perform part inspections as needed using standard measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gages. + Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to support launches and ensure quality performance. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. + Minimum of 3 years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. + Direct experience authoring full PPAPs, not just editing or coordinating. + Strong understanding of validation methodology and acceptance criteria. + Experience executing FAIs and verifying product conformance to drawings. + Familiarity with PPAP elements such as Control Plans, PFMEAs, and Process Flows. + Ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in automotive or medical device manufacturing. + Exposure to industry standards such as IATF or ISO. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Buffalo Grove, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $38.50/hr.
