POSITION SUMMARY: It is the primary responsibility of the Bar Porter to ensure the bar is stocked with all items and kept clean. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and proceduresTop 5 Specific Job Functions: Ensure maximum usage of all supplies to attain the budgeted beverage cost and to prevent wasteDeliver orders from the warehouse to the bar outlets and restaurants promptly - warehouse porters onlyAnticipate the guest's needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgencyAssist bartenders in the execution of service and follow the bartender's directionEmpty trash regularlyOther Specific Job Functions: Wash glasses to ensure the bar is fully stockedMop floors as necessary to ensure a clean, safe work areaRespond to the Bartender's needs by running for liquor, glassware, stock, and other supplies. Perform all opening and closing duties, based upon shift assignmentBid farewell to guests, using the guest's name when known, and encourage them to returnWork as a team, assisting all guests and employees with their needs and inquiriesMonitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areasPerforms all other job-related duties as requestedThis job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee in this position. RequirementsRequired: Must have 6 months of experience as a Bar PorterMust be 21 years of age or olderMust have 1 year of customer service experienceAbility to take initiative and exhibit flexibilityA highly motivated and energetic personalityHigh school diploma or equivalent.Working knowledge of and compliance with all departmental and property policies, procedures, and standardsWorking knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic selections availableWorking knowledge of two-way radios, knives, and pallet jacksEffectively communicate with management, bartenders, and service staff to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employeesExcellent customer service skillsHave interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contactsProfessional appearance and demeanorWork varied shifts, including weekends and holidaysAble to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral formsPreferred: At least 1 year of experience as a bar porter.Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Alcohol AwarenessFood Handler's CardUnion ReferralWORK SCHEDULE/HOURS: Varies PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the physical ability to access all areas of the facility; move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects; withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying items weighing at least 50 lbs. without restriction.Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.Physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure; work indoors and outdoors, as well as being exposed to hot/cold surfaces, steam, and wet floors.Most work tasks are performed indoors; however, there are events where outdoor activities are required.
