Shipping / Receiving I

Description:Candidate will serve as the primary contact for all shipping/receiving of packages to the facility including but not limited to daily packages through primary carriers US Postal Service, UPS, and FedEx. Contact and schedule carriers for packages that cannot be shipped through primary carriers, work with Global Trade Management to ensure all international shipments meet requirements and assist with additional facility tasks as needed. Description: Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Determines method of shipment. Affixes shipping labels on packed parcels. Assembles cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers. Inserts items into containers. Selects pallets for larger containers, opens or closes wooden crates and binds containers with plastic banding. Affixes or prints identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers. Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper/buyer to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to departments and receiving individuals. Completes chain of custody insuring received items reach their intended recipient. Success Criteria: Basic computer skills including Outlook and Microsoft Office. Good communication skills. Detail oriented. Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently. Knowledgeable of safety standards especially lifting techniques.. Willingness to be trained to operate a forklift
