Position Type: High School Teaching/Career TechDate Posted: 3/24/2026Location: Warren County Career CenterDate Available: 26-27 FYClosing Date: Until FilledDistrict: Warren County Career CenterPOSITION: Career Technical Instructor - Graphic Design REPORTS TO: Superintendent or designeeEMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time, 185 Days, Master Agreement, FLSA ExemptQUALIFICATIONS: Two-Year Initial Career-Technical Workforce Development (CTWD) License or eligibility to obtain one .Minimum of five years of full-time work experience in Graphic Design or related industry; or appropriate postsecondary degree or credential.Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.Ability to establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and community partners.Must meet all required background checks and licensure standards per Ohio Department of Education.GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Graphic Design Instructor provides instruction and hands-on training to high school students enrolled in the district's Graphic Design program. This program focuses on visual communication, branding, typography, layout, and print production within the graphic design industry.The instructor integrates academic and technical content to prepare students for postsecondary education and careers in graphic design, marketing, advertising, and print media. Emphasis is placed on industry-standard design practices, Adobe Creative Cloud applications, and real-world client-based projects.The instructor assumes responsibility for delivering high-quality instruction, assessment, and industry-aligned learning experiences in Graphic Design. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with Ohio Career-Technical Content Standards for Graphic Design and Visual Communications.Teach foundational and advanced design principles including typography, color theory, layout, branding, and visual hierarchy.Provide hands-on instruction using industry-standard software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.Guide students through real-world design projects including logos, branding systems, marketing materials, and print-ready files.Instruct students in print production processes including file preparation, color modes, prepress, and operation of printing equipment.Differentiate instruction to emphasize graphic design workflows and career pathways distinct from video production and motion media.Maintain accurate student records, grades, and career-technical documentation.Oversee classroom studio environment, including equipment, materials, and safety procedures.Collaborate with local businesses and industry partners to provide client-based projects and work-based learning opportunities.Prepare students for industry-recognized credentials (e.g., Adobe certifications) and portfolio development.Stay current with design trends, tools, and technologies through ongoing professional development.Assist in student recruitment, program promotion, and participation in career fairs and community events.OTHER DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.Conducts and presents the position in a professional manner.Maintains a positive and productive work environment.Effectively uses verbal, nonverbal, writing, and listening skills.Actively seeks to acquire knowledge and skills to meet new challenges through involvement in professional development activities.Is punctual and thorough in implementation of all assigned duties. ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:Occasional: Exposure to severe weather, traffic, blood, bodily fluids and tissue, light lifting (up to 50 pounds), travel to remote sites, attend functions and perform duties outside normal working hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Periodic: Exposure to loud noise, irritating and hazardous chemicals, fumes, and unruly children and adults.Frequent: Prolonged periods of standing and lifting (10-20 pounds) of supplies and materials. Bending, stooping and reaching for items. Follow all Board safety rules and procedures. Participate in the school safety training when requested.Reports to: Superintendent or designeeStarting date: 2026-27 School Year Salary and Benefits: Based upon Board Policy and Master Agreement. Appropriate placement on the Certified Staff Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience in the various sectors of the business field.
