This senior individual contributor role is accountable for architecture-level decisions, implementation, and operational ownership of secure, resilient AWS cloud-native platform capabilities supporting Velogica US within SCOR Digital Solutions. The position leads modernization of legacy scripts, tooling, and release patterns into Terraform/CloudFormation-based Infrastructure as Code, modern CI/CD, and standardized operational guardrails across development, QA, staging, Rescore, and production environments. The role partners closely with engineering, architecture, and security stakeholders to improve delivery speed, reliability, and compliance, and carries deep ownership of Amazon RDS/Aurora lifecycle management, performance, recovery readiness, and database-aware deployment coordination for business-critical services. * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. * 7+ years in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Platform Engineering, or similar roles. * 5+ years of hands-on production AWS engineering experience. * 5+ years of CI/CD pipeline design and release automation experience. * Proven experience modernizing legacy operational tooling into cloud-native delivery practices. * Demonstrated ownership of relational database operations in production environments. * Demonstrated success leading complex platform modernization initiatives in regulated or highly controlled enterprise environments. Technical Skills - Required: * AWS Core Platform: advanced hands-on expertise with IAM, VPC, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Systems Manager, and security services in multi-environment production estates. * Infrastructure as Code: expert-level Terraform (preferred) and/or CloudFormation, reusable module design, and GitOps-style workflows. * Modern CI/CD: deep expertise with GitHub Actions and/or GitLab CI, including pipeline governance, artifact promotion, deployment safety controls, and release reliability engineering. * AI-Assisted Development: practical experience using GitHub Copilot with VS Code (or comparable enterprise AI coding tools) to refactor legacy code, accelerate automation delivery, and improve developer productivity with human review controls. * Containers & Orchestration: Docker and AWS ECS/EKS concepts for cloud-native service delivery. * RDS/Aurora Expertise: deep operational expertise with RDS/Aurora performance tuning, scaling, backup/restore, upgrades, high availability, and failure recovery in production. * Database-Aware Delivery: ability to coordinate application releases with schema/data dependencies and environment refresh patterns. * Scripting & Automation: strong Python and shell scripting capability for platform automation, integrations, and operational tooling. * Observability & Reliability: strong experience implementing alerts, dashboards, logs, and reliability metrics for production systems, including service-level health objectives. Preferred: * Kubernetes platform operations in AWS (EKS) including deployment, scaling, and operational troubleshooting. * Policy-as-code and security automation (for example OPA, Checkov, tfsec, or equivalent enterprise tools). * Service mesh/API gateway patterns and secure service-to-service communication. * AI-enabled engineering practices including prompt engineering for code generation, AI-assisted test creation, and documentation acceleration within secure SDLC constraints. * FinOps awareness including cloud cost optimization and capacity/right-sizing practices. * Experience in regulated industries (insurance, financial services, healthcare, or similar). Professional Skills: * Strong systems thinking and troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, application, and database layers. * Effective communication with engineering, architecture, security, and business stakeholders. * Ability to lead modernization initiatives and influence technical direction without direct authority. * High ownership mindset with strong documentation and operational discipline. * Ability to operate with senior-level autonomy, prioritize high-impact work, and mentor less experienced engineers. Certifications - Preferred: * AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional * AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) * HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate * Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD) or equivalent practical expertise Relocation assistance within the U.S. is available for this position. SCOR employees work 3 days per week in an office with the flexibility to work 2 days per week remotely. Pay Range for roles performed in NC: $97,000-$118,500 base salary per year. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long term incentives.
