PurposeTo plan and coordinate programs and activities that are varied, reflect the interests, values, and beliefs of the residents and provides life-enriching opportunities for residents and the community.Essential FunctionsJob FunctionsDevelop and promote an Activities Program designed to promote the residents' active involvement with each other, their families, and the community providing social, physical, intellectual and recreational activities in a planned, coordinated and structured mannerPreparation of monthly community newsletterPreparation of monthly community activity calendarObtain a historical and interest profile for each residentActively develop and implement a volunteer program for resident activitiesContact caterers, entertainers, decorators and others to arrange for scheduled eventsFacilitate socialization among residentsChaperone activities outside the communityDrive the Company van for residents' activitiesParticipate actively with marketing on combined eventsParticipate as directed in the leasing and marketing process for potential residentsPlan, coordinate and help implement decorating of the community for special events, seasons and holidaysControl expenses within approved budgetAny other tasks, assignments, projects or requests as deemed by managementParticipate in the community's Manager on Duty (MOD) program on assigned weekendsAny other tasks, assignments, projects, or requests as needed by managementQualificationsMust be 18 years of age or olderOver two (2) years, up to and including four (4) years in recreational therapy. State specific training in recreational therapyMust read, write, speak and understand EnglishPatience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the elderlyMust have upper body strength adequate to bend, lift, shift, move, and/or assist in moving articles of more than twenty-five poundsMust be able to squat, reach and stretch without distress. Must be able to tolerate extended periods walking, standing
