Position Type: Certified - Education Service Center/CoordinatorDate Posted: 3/23/2026Location: Education Service CenterDate Available: 07/01/2026JOB TITLE: Coordinator - Special Services DEPARTMENT: Teaching and Learning REPORTS TO: Director of Special ServicesFLSA STATUS: ExemptCONTRACT STATUS: Full-time/12-month contractSALARY SCHEDULE: CoordinatorAPPROVED BY: Mark OfficerAPPROVED DATE: 3/12/26SUMMARY: The Coordinator will direct and monitor compliance to various established policies, procedures, and/or regulations related to IDEA and 504 regulations and support teachers, principals, counselors, and parents as part of the mission to serve students with disabilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: These statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to this position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.Manage district Section 504 and special education programs and services while serving as a resource of information for administrators, teachers, and counselors.Assist special education teachers and counselors in the completion of special education and Section 504 paperwork, as needed.Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.Collaborate with others (Director of Special Services, teachers, principals, agency representatives, and other professional staff) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services in accordance with programmatic and regulatory requirements.Directs the implementation of existing and new programs/services for the purpose of ensuring that these programs/services are provided within established timeframes and in conformance with all related requirements.Provide professional development opportunities and support with internal compliance for staff regarding any topic necessitated by the district, state, and/or federal requirements.Plan and hold Special Education Department meetings on an as needed basis.Facilitate meetings that may frequently involve a range of issues for the purpose of evaluating situations, identifying appropriate actions, developing recommendations, and/or implementing desired program changesManage assigned programs and/or services for the purpose of achieving outcomes in relation to program objectives, and ensuring conformance with legal, financial and district requirementsOrganize and manage transitional opportunities and/or extended school year services, as assigned by the Director of Special ServicesManage Child Find referrals through collaboration with building site counselorsAssists with special projects.Coach and support special education staff particularly new teachers in the effective implementation of curricular supports, tools, and adopted programs, while assisting in the development and execution of district professional development plans and contributing to curriculum design through active participation on district committees.Demonstrates strong proficiency in instructional technology tools, including Google Classroom and other digital platforms, while continuing to expand expertise. Communicates effectively with staff and teams and applies a solid understanding of federal, state, and district special education laws and policies.Works independently and collaboratively with professionalism and a solutions-oriented mindset, maintaining accurate documentation and confidentiality while supporting teams through strong organizational and interpersonal skills.All other duties as assigned by the administrator. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Masters degree preferredValid Oklahoma teaching certificateMinimum three (3) years as a special education teacherKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Computer literate in a variety of instructional technology tools including learning management systems such as Google Classroom. Ability and willingness to continually gain expertise in a variety of instructional support tools (Google, Grade Book, Online Curriculum, etc.). Excellent written and oral communication ability; strong knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and laws applicable to education and special education; expertise in Oklahoma State Department of Education regulations related to curriculum and instruction. Ability to follow all district policies and procedures. Ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm for the tasks being done. Demonstrating strong communication skills, orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators. Ability to work without supervision, and work as a team player. Ability to document records accurately. Ability to manage confidential information in a manner that respects students, families, and employees. Ability to listen effectively. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language, including common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from school district personnel, regulatory agencies, or patrons from the community. Ability to effectively present information to school personnel, district leaders, and public groups.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS: Current driver's license in good standing.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
